Ok…so she was only done with musicals. Makes sense now. I agree this will do very well at the box offiice given the two big names that are starring.
skynyc Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 They're both fun to see on stage and there are some good laughs. Farrow's character is quite far-fetched, and her arc is almost farcical. But it was fun and the audience loved it. Two huge black SUVs parked next to the stage door upon exiting. I got it on TodayTix on one of their no-fee weekends...mezzanine side for $45. That was the perfect price for me. Cooper, Marc in Calif, + ApexNomad and 2 others 5

She gave up her equity card. IIRC she was pissed over how they didn't back her when she was upset people wouldn't mask up at the theater. not sure if she gave up musicals or not. She still is doing a one woman show (was lucky enough to see her perform in three different cities in the past year) and she made a point of making a joke thanking people "for coming to my show which is not an equity production). Not sure how she is doing this play, unless since it's only a two person show with no orchestra, the don't have to use equity.
handiacefailure Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 (edited) I was in NYC this past weekend and was lucky enough to see it Patti is my favorite actress and that's why I bought tickets. Her and Mia were both really good. Was weird seeing Patti in a non-singing role. Was a good play, but I don't see it getting any Tony nominations. Wouldn't have bought tickets if it wasn't for Patti being the star and probably wouldn't last with a no big name cast. I liked that it was a 7 p.m. show instead of 8 and was only a little over an hour and a half with no intermission, so I was able to get out and enjoy a late dinner while most of the restaurants were still open and didn't have the 8 p.m. theater crowd just getting out Edited October 24, 2024 by handiacefailure thomas and + ApexNomad 1 1
+ ApexNomad Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Sounds like a walk, not run to see play. I love when the material is able to stand on its own, not because of the actors in them. (It helps, but that’s my preference.) thomas 1
pleasureseeker Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 Definitely a walk, not a run. It's quite charming. Mia and Patti are quite good, especially Mia (although I'm no fan of hers but it's her play really, Patti's character is a sidekick with no arc while Mia's arc goes 180 degrees). The only reason to see it is for the pleasure of watching two solid actresses perform. I don't think a single ticket would sell if this play were performed by unknowns. Feels too much like 90's "feel good" movie of the week. + ApexNomad and thomas 2
