I have that to look forward to!  Are there certain shoes that make the scent stronger?  And do you ever request that your partner prepare? Not sure how to make this happen.

It's not just the shoe...  It's the guy's foot and the amount of bacteria hanging around. 

A sockless, sweaty foot from a good run in a tight running shoe could likely get the job done.  But they'd need to be older shoes.

Brand new don't have enough previous sweat in them to smell like much of anything.

I’ve experienced changing tastes too. Had no interest in piss when I was younger, but in my late 40s, couldn’t stop fantasizing about it.
