As with any large city, common sense situational awareness will carry you through in CDMX. Walk with purpose, don't be flashy, don't be a jerk. It's a safe city and one of the great ones of the world.

My only hiring experience is a dancer at one of the now-gone clubs on Calle Amberes a few years ago in the Zona Rosa, formerly the best tourist area decades ago, but now a bit of a safe vaguely red-light district   It went well, but he's moved on and I have nothing else to offer. Jealous you'll be there.

I saw someone else suggest Zona Rosa in another thread. Is that where the Angel of Independence is located? I am having a difficult time identifying hotels.

Yeah, the Angel of Independence is on a major road (Reforma) along the northwest-ish side of the Zona Rosa. It's a convenient area somewhat between the Chapultepec stuff to the west and the historic center to the east. Subway station at Insurgentes on the south side of the neighborhood.

You don't need to stay in Zona Rosa.  It's really not the place you want to sleep.

Find an airbnb or hotel in Polanco, Roma or, as a last option, Reforma.

The first two mentioned will allow you to walk to a ton of spots, easily get Uber and enjoy neighborhoods that quickly feel familiar and cozy.

Reforma is loud and busy, but a lot of the newest American-brand hotels are there:  Ritz, Four Seasons, Sofitel, etc.

Don't put yourself in the gay bubble when visiting CDMX.  There's way too many incredible other things to explore in that city.

good practical points......I can only reply that Four Seasons and Sofitel are not American (US) hotel chains (Canada and France, respectively)   😉
