Barbra fans: Barbra's working on 4 projects in 2024

For all the Streisand fans near and far...some news this week that the singer / actress / director / producer / author is working on four different projects this summer, with at least three expected to be released by the end of this year.

First, the big news which leaked out in the beginning of this year was that Streisand had returned to the recording studio with Paul McCartney (was he doing a duet with her, or producing tracks?) .  A few weeks ago, singer James Taylor said in an interview he had been in the studio with Streisand, 82, recording a duet with her. There's nothing more definite - no title, no info on the theme of the recording, etc. It's unknown if this new album will be out in 2024 or 2025 (her releases tend to be in September to qualify for the September 30 Grammy nominations cut-off each year, so chances are it won't be in 2024 if nothing has been announced). 

 

However, expect some official press releases in the next few weeks on three other projects Streisand and her team have been working on: 

1. The re-release of two albums from her catalog. That usually means 'remastered', and in the case of 'Yentl Original Motion Picture Soundtrack' last year, it also meant unreleased tracks.  Not sure which two albums have been chosen, but keep in mind it's the 45th Anniversary of 'Wet' (and she recorded five extra tracks for the album, never used and never released - though 'Rainbow Connection' was included on 2021's 'Release Me 2' but as a duet with Kermit the Frog, not the original solo recording from 1979). It's also the 40th Anniversary for 'Emotion', and there are some unreleased tracks from those recordings.

2. The re-release of one of her movies from her catalog. Again, not sure which movie and if it will get any special 'treatment' by Streisand as she has done in the past with most of her movies, but it happens to be the 45th Anniversary of 'The Main Event' which hasn't gotten much attention. It's also the 45th anniversary of the movie's soundtrack, which had a very short release on CD back in the late 1980s. The extended version of 'The Main Event /Fight' has never been included on a Streisand compilation album, nor has the ballad version of 'The Main Event'. Maybe she's working on something with those ?
