jeezifonly Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 The Decameron A new adaptation of the Boccaccio book about nobles fleeing the city to a country villa in order to avoid the black plague in 14thC Italy. In writing, tone, casting, design, direction, it’s on par with Hulu’s THE GREAT. A lot of modern language, dark humor, and sex. Lush sets and costumes. Largely Brit cast, plus a couple American TV comedy icons. Amar Chadha-Patel is gorgeous, and the object of desire for more than one character. Hard to take your eyes off him. Would love to hear what others think. Eager to see where it goes! thomas 1
OneTaoBoy Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 Hi. Completely agree it's on a par with THE GREAT, sharing the darkness, snark, self-assertion/creation of our days. It's well worth watching. Though, not unlike the other show, it sorta peters out....so to speak. thomas and jeezifonly 2
jeezifonly Posted August 11, 2024 Author Posted August 11, 2024 It’s the first time I’ve wanted to be ravished by Tony Hale, so that’s a fun discovery… thomas 1
Rod Hagen Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 Pasolini’s movie was disgusting and beautiful. Not my favorite of his films, but very good and the guy fucking the nuns, that part of the movie was hilarious. thomas 1
