What does that mean : 'he's in the street' ?  Never heard of that.

Possibly, given his English language skills, he means "on the street" which would imply he does not have an accommodation.

I think he just happened to be walking in the street when we facetimed so didn't want to talk. Wasn't feeling well today so didn't see him yet.
