Downtown Boston Breakfast/Lunch Joint

Hey Boston residents.......will be moving thru Boston this Monday morning (Logan to South Station with time for exploring) and will want to grab a bite at a very local, non-chain, long-established, non-touristy, casual place......any ideas vaguely in the South Station area or up to several blocks away?.....the historic Boston Neck area (Berkeley and Washington) is also a possibility.......I can walk a long ways if needed.......thanks......

Ended up dropping in at Al's Cafe very near South Station on Essex for a sandwich.  Lots of locals, office types, cops, firemen. Must be the place. Lots were ordering chicken salad sandwiches.
