Planning to be in Vancouver sometime in April can anyone suggest a good hotel which is gay friendly and where you can have visitors in your room. Hope to get together with an escort (or two) while I am there.

Hi Swift,

I've been to Vancouver several times and have had no problem at all with visitors.

Depending on your budget, the Pan Pacific is very nice, definitely try the restaurant there, the Five Sails, it's yummy. If you want a bit more economical, I liked the Metropolitan, very nice also. They also have a very good restaurant, Diva at The Met.

If you want to go all out, there is an inn on Victoria Island, called Sooke Harbour House (see website of same name). The rooms are spectacular, each with a different theme and all have either jacuzzis or soak tubs or the like; it is in a very quiet area, but it's probably the nicest place I've ever stayed, quite romantic. I would only stay there one night, I think. They are thought to have one of the best restaurants in Western Canada, I loved it there, highly recommend it to impress that special person. Gourmet Magazine named them as the 2nd best small inn in the world in their issue last year. It's a piece of heaven.

Enjoy the trip.

Hey Swiftone

My favorite city in the world! I'm in Vancouver about once a month, and usually stay at a hotel right on the very fringe of the gay west end - The Sands - very reasonably priced (about $95 corporate) (604 682-1831). Never had a problem bringing guys to the room. Two blocks from Delaney's - a very gay-friendly coffee stop, where most of the clientele are gay - as new blood, you'll get cruised like crazy - actually, the whole area around the hotel (Davie & Denman Streets) is very gay-friendly - lots of rainbows. Beautiful city, plan to go up to Whistler (1 1/2 hour drive) for a day, if you can. The suggestion of Vancouver (not Victoria) Island is a good one as well - definitely worth a visit.

Have a great time in the world's nicest city!

Allan
