OP note: I wanted the name of the thread to be: "Helicopter parenting effect on mental health of children who are now off to college and those of us dealing with them in life" but that would have been too long.

Honestly when I saw the word "helicopter" in Men's Health, I was hoping to witness stills of a different kind.

I envied the people I knew growing up who lived in "live and let live" households. IMO they seem to be the most well-adjusted, good people as adults.
