I just received in the mail a publicity brochure for a drug called DIOXADREN (Cyclodextrin), by Berkshire-Wheat Research Center, which is supposed to be better than Viagra. It is said to enhance erections without Viagra's side effects, by using cyclodextrin to deliver testosterone without the liver metabolic absorption. This is supposedly a breakthrough in testosterone tratments, since bypassing the liver avoids prostate damage. Wow, do I sound thechnical.... :-) In fact, I don't really understand. Is there a doctor in the house who has heard about this? Any help would be appreciated! Thank you very much.

There is no such medication approved by the FDA. It sounds like one of those "dietary supplements." The law on dietary supplements is very strange. Not only do dietary supplements not have to back up any claims of safety or efficacy, but the opposite is the case. The FDA would have to sue the maker of a dietary supplement and prove in court that it's unsafe in order to take it off the market. The dietary supplement makers got this strange law passed because of their strong lobby. Given the complete lack of oversight of dietary supplements, I strongly advise against their use, with rare exceptions (of course, I don't mean vitamin use, etc.).

There certainly has not been any substance that's been shown to work better than Viagra. Therefore, anybody who claims to have such a product is lying, and should not be trusted.
