WOW, this is great....I don't know how you got to find out ahead of time (other than to go there for the show on Monday) but this list is wonderful. Now anyone can go to your past reviews and see if they want to see any of those dancers. Glad you did it and keep on doing it.....

RE: Re: Canadian Dancers from The Gaiety

Sorry about your experiences Ready. I wish you'd share the names with us so we can stay away. As a frequent visitor/partaker of the Gaiety boys, I think overall the new guys are just fine, but I am very interested in hearing names/details.

If you aren't comfy posting, you can email me (in confidence, if you so desire) at NYObsrvr@aol.com. We all strive to find the right guy(s), by sharing information, it makes it a lot easier to do.

Sorry you have had such a bad experience.

Hugs,

NYO

RE: Re: Canadian Dancers from The Gaiety

The top three I can think of to stay away from is Kirk, Scott, and Paolo. Although some guys apparently like the abuse. Everybody's different I guess. I just can't stand for the bs. I like to go with a dancer with a good rep and who is trustworthy.

What are Sundays like at the Gaiety? Everyone tired out? The beginning of the week? Lots of no shows?

What are times of shows?

Phone number again (Thx)

NY Observer,

You simply MUST make a trip to the coast and give us the 411 on your wish list of escorts. It would be the definitive stamp of approval (next to Hoo's, of course) and--blissfully--you are detail oriented.

Don't you think the reason Gaiety entertainment isn't announced earlier is due to outside influences (dates 'n drugs) which make it impossible to truly count on certain headliners? This is a generalization, but certainly a factor.

I met some people who worked on "Making Porn", a play in NYC dealing with a straight porno actor making gay pornos (some blond porno actor who really is straight and I can't think of his name--won't kiss men in his videos, action is refered to as a "smirk" when the bottom attempt to kiss him--opened the show). Anyway, after this actor left, the show continued with Ryan Idol and a string of other actors who, upon receiving their weekly salary OR an advance, would be MIA the following evening. It got to the point that no one knew who would be in the show the following evening.

ANYWAY...them's my thoughts on the subject.

Jesus, I talk alot. :p

If I may make a comment here: The Gaiety used to post the names of the men appearing any given week on a little sign right outside the entrance. It was very discreet, but they nevertheless stopped doing it right after the new city ordinances regarding adult entertainment businesses went into effect. My assumption was that they thought they ought to be even more discreet.

The posting, which they would sometimes put up Sunday evening for the following week and sometimes on Monday morning, was usually very accurate. Once in a while, there was a change in the line-up, but mostly I think the guys are pretty reliable about showing up when they are booked to show up.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-10-00 AT 11:42PM (CST)[p]Sam,

Generally guys are there for the whole week, starting on Monday and continuing through the following Sunday, with very few late arrivals or early departures. I haven't been on a Sunday in quite a while, but I didn't usually find that the dancers were too exhausted to put on the usual show. Actually, Sunday's are kind of relaxed and it tends not to be very crowded, so it's kind of a pleasant day to go.

The showtimes are: M-F 1:30, 3:30, 6, 8:30, 10:30; Fri-Sat 1:30, 3:30, 6, 9, 12 (the last three shows on Fri & Sat are the ones that have all the extra dancers, usually at least a dozen as opposed to the usual five-to-seven), Sun same as M-F except no 1:30 show.

Sorry, I don't have the phone #.

Hi Sam,

Midnight's response was correct, except the Friday/Saturday evening shows are 6:15,9:15,12:15.

As far as Sundays, it's erratic. Many of the dancers are burnt out, especially if they are just completing 10 days. Saturday night is a good night for them to go out and sometimes they get little or no sleep.

Lately, some of the new dancers for the week or the weekend dancers have worked Sunday. In those cases, it's probably a good chance to meet the guys. Sundays are usually pretty mellow shows. Again, there's no show at 1:30, first is USUALLY at 3:30.

Phone number is 212 221-8868

We all love hearing you talk Regina :)

I think some of the dancers are undependable, that is why Denise doesn't post/announce schedules earlier. I find it's best to ask the dancers when they might be coming back or if you're comfortable giving them your phone number to call you when they are returning.

As to why, I think you may be right, remember these are young guys with busy schedules.

As far as the Left Coast, I'd love to hit the road and see who's out there. I suspect that Montreal and Toronto and maybe Philly are future destinations.

I look forward to meeting you at the Gaiety.

It's only by sticking together and telling others of our experiences that we can get the best value for our money. Keep those cards and letters coming.

NYO-Have you ever considered being a tour guide of New York's underbelly? Like, we would all meet at some restaurant for a nice meal and discussion, you would address the group, then we all head off to the Gaiety. Like that gay opera group where everyone meets and someone talks about the cast for that specific evening then they all go to the opera and...

Or, maybe after Hoo-Boy arrives we could have Male4Malescort night at the Gaiety or Stellas. Then the next morning meet for brunch and exchange ideas...and make a quilt while we're at it!

Just a thought... :*

Yes, whatever the reason, the dance card isn't finalized until just before the first (1:30 )show on Monday. If you call 212-221-8868 around 1, Denise will let you know who's on.

Curious about the Canadians

I just wondered what the deal is with Canadians coming down to work at The Gaiety. (I'm a former New Yorker who has been transplanted to L.A. and never had the pleasure of going to this palace of beautiful men!) Does the management particularly solicit Canadian talent? ;-)

RE: Curious about the Canadians

I think that Denise does prefer to book Canadians.

I don't know why, but about half of this week's lineup were from North of the Border. Maybe they are more reliable than Americans. I think that the financial benefits are better for them. The exchange rate is great for them when they go home.

I am a big fan of the Canadians, and find that they are less inhibited than typical Americans. There has been some talk here about whether a dancer is gay/bi/straight. I don't think that the Canadians (and many others in the world) are as hung up by those labels as we are.

I thought sure that one of my favorite Canadian dancers was gay. Then I found out he had a girlfreind. He explained to me "Sex is sex". That is my new motto, and I want to know how to nominate him for an Acadamy Award.

Actually, I don't much care what they do, or who they do it with when they are not with me. If they attend to my needs when we are together, and we are having fun, I really don't care who they go home to. The Canadians seem to be able to enjoy the moment, we Americans tend to over-analyze and worry.

Relax, and remember "sex is sex"

RE: Curious about the Canadians

Thanks for the info. The next time I'm in NY I want to see some of those Canadian boys!!!

And here here to your comment regarding gay/bi/straight. Most of the labeling problems are social pressure anyway. I can't fault anyone for being inhibited by them. It is tough to fight. So we deal, right?

Sex is sex is just that--and a good motto.

RE: Curious about the Canadians

You're absolutely right about those Canadians, Paul. And what beauties they so often are! IMHO, the Gaiety wouldn't be the great lure it is without their constant presence. So, gentlemen, hats off to Denise (and staff) for bringing us these gorgeous hunks (and all that uncut meat)to this sadly desexualized city week after week!

I've heard guys on their way to see a show at the Gaiety refer to it as "Les Grands Ballets Canadiens.'

Whose underbelly do you want a tour of Regina? I am hardly an expert on the sites of the city. I do know how to make my way to 201 W 46th. I have found a few restaurants I like in the area and I know the hotels intimately.

Friday night spent some time with a friend at Splash, I like the atmosphere there. Other than that, I am no expert.

I do think that a Gaiety night hosted by Hooboy sounds like fun.

RE: Curious about the Canadians

I too wonder just what is it about those Canadians? I have always found them incredibly passionate. I was in Detroit for an industrial and we used to go to Windsor Ontario to the strip clubs. My Detroit friends refered to it as the Windsor Ballet! I refered to it as fun.

Sorry, but sex isn't just sex, sex is GREAT!

Re: Canadian Dancers from The Gaiety

While all these new boys at The Gaiety seem to be the latest craze, BUYER BEWARE! A lot of these Canadian guys are hustlers all the way. It's a new avenue for them to make a bundle of fast cash and then sneak back to where they came from, and they don't care how they piss off customers. A lot of them are in it for the short run. I've had more than a few negative esperiences unlike the ones I've had with the more trustworthy, reliable repeat dancers. I've notified Denise cause I know she has been bringing them down here in groves. She's going to lose business starting with me unless she gets rid of a lot of them.

Thanks Ready

Kirk is not on my list of guys I want to see. I have been with Scott and he wasn't bad. Thanks for the word on Paolo.

By letting others know who is worthwhile and who isn't, we are all helping each other out and making the selection process a bit more in our favor.
