WHY IS RENTBOY ADVERTISING HERE?

Given the shortage of space on this board, it surprises me that all these messages from the guy who calls himself 'tommyweiss' are allowed to clutter things up even further. The poster is in fact the guy who runs RENTBOY, so his 'contributions' to a forum that supposedly discusses the escort scene are nothing more than plugs for the guys who pay him to display their ads on his site. Is this OK with everyone here?

 

I've got to admit that the few 'tommyweiss' postings I've actually read (of the many that have been showing up in the past week) don't really do a hard sell on anyone in particular, but it's still off-putting to think that this stuff is being passed off as distinterested commentary from clients with something to report.

It's promo, pure & simple.

 

If this whole issue has been brought up already (and explained by Hooboy), my apologies all 'round. But I really haven't been able to go thru all the postings on the boards, so, for what it's worth, I pose the question again: why is Rentboy advertising here?

I too got my pantiest in a twist about this. HooBoy responded, saying Mr. Weiss is a good man and both of them shared a lot of the same concerns. If it's ok with HooBoy, it's ok with me. I don't know in which topic this conversation appeared; there seems to be a topic from yesterday that disappeared, otherwise I would have referred you to it. It discussed law enforcement getting information from AOL concerning escorts and the use of what we believe to be personal information being leaked out by AOL. HooBoy suggests using http://www.freei.net rather than AOL for internate usage. It's free and all that.

 

As for rentboy.com, I guess commen interests are just that.

We've been having some problems with transfering everything from the rip-off bastards at Verio to my new server.

 

My new admin - Daddy In Training - has been spending many long hours restoring this Message Center, but some of the stuff was lost. I think it will reappear as he rebuilds, but I can't find the post about I wrote about Rentboy.

 

Basically, I said Tommy is a good guy. We have been in email contact over the issue. I feel that any promotional post is okay, however I would prefer it adds to the conversation and isn't simply self-serving. That goes for anyone, not just Tommy.

 

But I'm not going to sit here and delete stuff that I don't like. I'll leave that to the Nazi's at AOL.
