Lyft/Uber at JFK banned?

I looked at the JFK Airport's website, and there's no mention of rideshare services. Would I be correct in surmising that it's because they're banned? The airport website mentions a taxi flat-fee of $70 plus fees and tip. Do taxi drivers generally adhere to this, or does one have to ask them to make sure?

I use Lyft at JFK all the time.

There are specific pick up sites designed  for Lyft (or Uber) at each terminal.

I would suggest checking the NY Port Authority website to find where you can be picked up at your terminal. Some of them have been moved into parking garages now because the porte cocheres cannot handle the volume.

No.  That would never happen.  This is NYC.

I was just at JFK yesterday.  Rideshare is alive and well.

That said, I'd avoid the shlep and book a car into the city.  Dial-6 and MinuteMan have always been affordable, comfortable alternatives to Uber for me.

Thank you for the wonderful tip. I just booked the Dial-6 for our trip from the airport. Same price as a taxi or Lyft! When I was a little boy, my mother used to tell me (jokingly) that 777-7777 was the phone number for the Bashi-Bazouks.

ohhhh. Best thing to do is take the train from JFK to the city or if you want you can take the sky train to Jamaica station from JFK and Uber from there.... also if you have a lot of luggage you can also ask your hotel to book you a car service from the airport or book a private car company.
