Different rates?

I recently hired a guy off of craigslist and had a great time with him. I want to hire him again but I am wondering about one thing. He has two ads, one with pictures and one without, the picture ad has a higher rate (by $50). When I responded to the no picture ad, the pics he sent were the same ones in the picture ad, this is how I know both ads are his. I assume he runs the lower rate ad when business is slow.

 

Now I dislike discussing the money, I learn the rate and have it out in a visible place when a guy arrives. So I don't want to have to clarify that I am expecting the lower rate but I am concerned he might -depending on which ad he is currently running - be expecting the higher rate when I call him.

 

Should I just let him worry about his accounts receivable and set out the lower rate unless he says otherwise? To confuse matters slightly, last time I paid his cab fare one way (about what I would have tipped since his lower rate is quite reasonable) and I am wlling to do this again but I don't know if I should volunteer this or wait for him to ask.

when you make next appointment, just state you would like to meet under same arrangements as the last. He will let you know if expectations have changed.

On several occaisions I have found guys listed on Craigslist for rates below what they have indicated in their ads on Rentboy and Men4Rent and what's indicated in their reviews here and elsewhere.

 

In a couple of these instances the listing on CL have been closer to the end of the month which I guess means they need to earn the rent money quickly if business was not good during the month. Perhaps some guys use CL as that last resort marketing effort when they are short on money.

 

I would say that the circumstances of your last encounter set the precedent. The rate you paid last time should be the base of your next encounter. I know it's hard for Americans to discuss money issues like this but you need to establish the rate and then set the appointment.

At times when things were slow and I was horny I have put ads on craigslist for rates below what I regularly do.

 

Whenever I have done this, if those clients repeated with me I either honored the same rate or told them in advance that it was a one time rate and anything after that would be at my regular rate.

 

I would say that if he hasn't said anything that you should expect to pay the same rate as before.

ALWAYS better 2 clarify in advance. I hate discussing $$ matters during a session - I find it dampens the mood, suddenly bringing financial considerations to the forefront. If U R meeting 4 only an hour, simply refer to the site where his lower rate is listed. Also, print out the page where the info. is dated & use it as a reference. That way, if he is an honourable/professional escort he cannot refute your legit claim.

Thanks for the comments. Well, I may know the difference between the rates. I had a confirmed appointment with him and three hours before the scheduled time he cancelled via a polite, apologetic text message but no explanation. I can't help but wonder if he found someone who was paying the higher rate. I'll give him one more chance then chalk it up to the vagaries of craigslist.

A cancellation on 3 hours notice and no explanation or offer to reschedule?? If it was me, I'd have sent a short polite message back saying that he'd just lost himself a client, permanently...

Normally, I would write someone off who did this. I annoy my friends because I won't - ever - return to any place where I have gotten bad customer service. But since we had hit it off so well, I made an exception. I saw him this weekend and his explanation of what made him cancel made sense. He brought up the rate differnce himself, saying he posted multiple ads to appeal to a greater variety of potential customers.

There can be many valid reasons for either an escort or client cancelling a meeting, including not feeling well, a cold, flu, intestinal problems, hung over, etc, stuff you don't necessarily want to spell out in detail. As long as the person cancels upon reasonable notice, we should accept it for what probably is. No one wants to meet someone who is sick or not at his best.

And I wasn't saying that there aren't valid reasons for cancelling an appointment on 'reasonable notice' (which, of course means different things to different people). I've done it to escorts and they've done it to me, though generally with considerably more than 3 hrs notice. And you don't have to spell things out to say "I'm ill" or "I'm under the weather" or even "somnething's come up unexpectedly". I'm not suggesting that a whole lot of detail is needed or wanted. But to offer NO explanation at all, and not offer to get back to you later to see if you want to reschedule at a better time is not only unprofessional, it's discourteous to the point of rudeness.

 

Now I'm glad it worked out well in the end for 'seeks hairy' who deserves kudos for his patience and sticking it out, but I still think it's a lot to ask of a client you've only seen once before.

No... confirm rates BEFORE meeting. Agree on them or not. Assuming rates leads to an awkward situation potentially. Awkward in an Intimate setting augments discomfort. Be clear before hand~
