I started the NHS Couch to 5k on 2nd of March;  have worked up to an hour on the treadmill alternating 1.5 minutes jog, 3.5 minutes walk; and have dropped about 10lbs...

For those who took up jogging later in life - any suggestions to improve progress or make this fun???

Although I’ve been running regularly since I was 19, I’ve never done any inside running on a treadmill. I prefer being outside and getting some vitamin D and fresh air. That said, if you have forest trails nearby, you might consider buying a pair of trail running shoes (Hoka is a good brand) and alternating between walking and jogging. You’ll get to enjoy “forest bathing”, with its incalculable health and mental benefits, and avoid excessive joint wear and tear, which is the main minus of running on hard surfaces. I’m too Type A to jog. I’m always logging my workouts on Strava. But, I strongly commend and encourage you to continue your cardiovascular program! There’s nothing as satisfying as losing weight and building muscle as we age.

That's what walking is for. I joke that I can well when a storm is coming as my one knee aches, but walking is still great as long as the terrain is mostly flat I'm good.
