So I'm stuck in traffic and call my client to let him know I'll be a few minutes late, and of course I call the wrong client---and also call him the wrong name.

"D'oh!" :o

Anyone care to share their minor train wrecks?

You think THAT'S bad?

A close client of mine happens to share the same name with my father who I address (and save in my phone book) by said same name.

I found myself confirming an appointment one afternoon (thank god using very vague, "so we're on for two hours tonight at 6") and calling my father instead of the client.

I got a phone call an hour later and was mortified when my father called to say that he didn't know what the message was about but he hoped I had fun with whatever I was doing at six. If anyone has ever had a moment of panic where you tried to recalculate EXACTLY what was said in your mind THIS was it!

Okay, Scott...

That made me laugh out loud, twice. That sounds like the whole thread of bullshit I had to make up the first go-around with my group of friends, and it would get more and more complicated and complex, and I would try to interweave the truth in so I didn't forget.

It all fell apart like a house of cards one day, so I had to make up another story as to why I was lying in the first place.

Before I forget... here's the escort urban legends-esque finish to my original gaffe....

I call the wrong client, and call him the wrong name, and am so horrified that I start laughing and hang up. I meet with the correct client, who is staying at Big Nashville Hotel in Room 1111. Everything goes fine.

I go home, and send wrong name client an e-mail to apologize for the mixup. We set up an appointment. He is staying at Big Nashville Hotel, in Room 1113.

Yes, they're next door to each other.
