So if you thought Mpox had been stamped out, think again.

The CBC news channel here in Canada is reporting the disease has made somewhat of a comeback, with cases appearing in Toronto in January, 4 so far.  The 4 cases were locally acquired and were reported within a 24 hour period.  It also reported cases are spiking in Mexico, which never distributed the vaccine to counter it. Even in Canada, only 15 percent of the people (mostly gay men) got their second dose of the vaccine, which was necessary to give better protection. It seems once cases subsided and the media attention shifted elsewhere, people just let their guard down.

The WHO made the call this week to maintain Mpox  as a public health emergency. The number of new cases reported had increased globally by 70 percent from the week before. But cases reported globally had also continued to decline. Concern is that this may not continue to be the case come summer when more travel occurs.

In my case I went through with the second dose and haven't encountered anyone who has admitted having Mpox.  But then I suppose there wouldn't be much incentive to do that in the escort world, which many of us inhabit. I still check the ads in Rentmen to see if providers have been vaccinated. Like myself, it's easy to prove as certificates were issued at the time of vaccination.
