Carole Cook has died - just days before her 99th birthday. Best remembered as the glammy grandma in Sixteen Candles, and as Maggie Jones in Broadway’s original cast of 42nd Street.
A close friend of Lucille Ball, she was mentored by the comedy legend and has starred and guested on everything. Big bold and brassy, and hilarious and a belt that could fill a house unmiked.

The very best of the 20th Century broads.

Also a huge ally for the Queer Community, Carole was a guardian Angel and care-taker of gay men suffering at the height of the AIDS crisis in LA in the late 80’s, when their families stayed away.

Raise a glass to her memory!
