In his forthcoming autobio. Tab Hunter admits he woke up one cold morning when he was about 16 in the apartment of a Park Avenue man of a certain age. But Tab says he decided not to be a "boy toy" and headed to Hollywood. Where, of course, there boys don't do that sort of thing. The pictures of Tab at that age are to die for. One wonders, indeed, if that was the extent of his escorting days.

Another book just out on Paul Lynde says he was a regular user of escorts. Two rumors hound Lynde's life story. One is that he died of a heart attack brought on by poppers. The other is that he pushed a lover out a window to his death.

Any "Older" Gentlemen, Contesting Tab's Story of being a "16 Year Old Virgin", would have to be what Around 90 yrs Old Now? He knows that ain't gonna happen! LOL Also.. I Luv the Star's who "Come Out" when it is "Twilight Time" and Worth one last shot at "Publicity"... Richard Chamberlain at his Age who really cares? Could he have Played anymore of a "Stereotype" than the Aged Art Dealer in "River Runs Whatever" IF I was an Aged "NYC Art Dealer" I would be very upset! I bet he and the Dyke Stanwyck, had a few laughs on the "Thornbirds" How Gullible Straights can be! LOL :+

I'm an older guy now, but when I was younger I adored Tab Hunter and thought he was gorgeous. I have never really cared what his real-life sexual orientation was, but he was always among my favorites to fantasize over. If you haven't seen him in "Damn Yankees" with Gwen Vernon, by all means try to rent or buy the DVD.

Paul Lynde used to be a regular at the old Haymarket hustler bar on 8th Avenue as well as Rounds on the East Side. He was generally accompanied by a couple of burly-looking guys who I guess were his "bodyguards". He was also always usually quite drunk. I remember one Saturday night in particular when he got into a long noisy argument with one of the bartenders which lasted over an hour with each of them hurling insults back and forth at one another. It was quite an evening. I think Mr Lynde usually stayed at the Sherry-Netherland Hotel.

I've been thinking about the Haymarket. Before it was the Haymarket, it was a restaurant the name of which I can't remember. It was three or four pegs down from Joe Allen's. A lot of chorus guys stopped there after their shows. I remember getting cruised by a beauty from "No No, Nanette." Unfortunately, I was with a really dull date.

When did the place become the Haymarket? Was it exclusively a hustler bar? I'm told Tony Perkins stopped there after performing in "Equus" and/or "Romantic Comedy." Tony appears to have been a big love of Tab Hunter according to Hunter's book.

Another tidbit: in a forthcoming bio of Gower Champion, producer Alexander Cohen is quoted as saying Champion had something going with a guy during out of town tryout of "Prettybelle." Someone once told me Champion really slept around. Maybe with company from all walks of life.

You're right. Before the Haymarket came into existence I think during the 1970s, the location was in fact a restaurant with a large after-theatre clientele mostly gay. However I just can't remember the name. The Haymarket was a lot of fun with a lot of great-looking young guys and some very friendly bartenders. If you'd like to see what it looked like inside, try to get your hands on a copy of the 1981 movie, "The Fan", which costarred Laureen Bacall and James Garner and which includes a scene actually shot inside the Haymarket. It's the story of a young and very handsome murderer enamered of Ms. Bacall who besides spending his time stalking her finds one of his victims inside the bar. Duke, late owner of the Haymarket, told me that the movie production company paid him $1500 (cash in advance) to shut the bar for a day. The Haymarket was closed by the authorities on Christmas Eve I think in 1982.

Also speaking of Tab Hunter, I just remembered another film "The Burning Hills" in which he costarred with Natalie Wood and looks absolutely fantastic.

That young and very handsome fan was Michael Biehn, who was also the young and humpy John Connors in the first Terminator movie.

A walking wet dream who aged well, but has fallen into the "what have you done lately?" bin. (He's actually done quite a bit according to IMDB but nothing you'd likely have seen.)

The problem with making something foolproof is the universe keeps making better fools.
