Question for the guys who also strip...

A friend is trying to find a pair of baseball pants for a baseball-themed party that he's been hired to strip at.

 

He's looking for breakaway pants ... you know ... the kind where he can just whip 'em off while stripping.

 

Google doesn't seem to be coughing up any source with searches for "Stripper pants" or other such serches. Hustler Hollywood and Pleasure Chest in LA were a bust. Mr. S in SF didn't have anything.

 

I realize these things probably aren't mass-produced, but I'm curious if anyone knows of a source? Or even a tailor where such a request wouldn't need to be explained? LA area would be great.

undergear.com has tear away "track" pants in two basic colors, black and white. They may not have the look of a baseball uniform, but they might suffice for what you're looking for.

 

Another resource is simply any large sporting goods store. ie Sports Authority, Modells, etc. Adidas, Nike and other athletic brands manufacture striped, multi-colored versions.

How about a plain old costume shop? They might have something like that lying around.

Alternatively, I would think that any tailor or seamstress could do that easily to a regular pair of baseball pants. I doubt if it would need any explanation. There's nothing illegal about stripping anyway, and I'm sure people in that line of work have had similar requests before. After all, you *are* talking about LA. They'll probably know just what to do and won't say a syllable. And, if nothing else, it can be "a costume for a movie." And bachelorette and other women's parties hire male strippers too. (You didn't say, but maybe that's even what his gig is.)

Go to Aardvark's on Melrose. They have a whole rack of tear-away Adidas and similar. I got a hot pair of black and whites for like $10.

I had a friend who for many years operated a costume store. These places quite often get calls for "special" costumes and have sources that make them. I know for a fact that he helped outfit several female strippers with everything from animal costumes to Vampira outfits. Ask a costume store. I doubt that it will be the first time they've had such a request.

I used just go buy some cheap funky pants from secound hand place, cut the side seams up, and using tape to hold it back together...it will work if you only looking to use that baseball pants for only one show.
