Well, once I *finally* get you to engage in some room-temperature water sports, we can discuss moving on to the frozen variety at your leisure.

I've been watching this tread wondering how I feel about this myself. It seems appropriate that anyone should feel offended and let their clients know that what they are saying is inappropriate. But why if you do this would you not also say to a married man that hiring you is also inappropriate or that cheating on one's boyfrind/partner/etc is also inappropriate. Obviously the latter means you're asking to take your money away but I think this point is why I had a vague reticence to wholeheartedly agreeing with the points brought up. After you escort for any length of time you realize that hiring escorts for some is a convenience. However, you also find that for others it's a necessity. Abrasive, offensive, socially inept clients cross all our paths regularly if not constantly. I think a client letting his bigotry shine through in an escort session may be a sign of why that client might have to hire. It's fantastically inappropriate for people to act like this, however as escorts we facilitate fantastically inappropriate behavior as part of the job.

It does take skill to navigate a conversation away from some peoples pet offensive topic. There have been several examples of that sort of behavior all over this message board in fact. Telling your client you won't be available for further appointments is great I think. However, claiming the moral high ground as an escort is always, in my opinion a very precarious position to take.

Hi Sean,

I know your posting was directed mostly to other escorts, but I thought I'd add an observation from my own experience. I'm a publisher/editor. Several years ago, I was working with a client on a manuscript. Towards the end of the project, it was necessary to arrange a lengthy meeting to finalize things. Over the course of the evening, the client (why, I still don't know!) went on at great (and offensive) length about how he thought homosexuals were disturbed, perverted, and so on. He did not know about my sexual orientation, as ours was a professional relationship. I chose not to respond, and finished the job. As we brought the evening to a close, I asked if he had been satisfied with my work over the course of the project, to which he responded that I was the best editor he had ever worked with. I thanked him, and as I showed him out the door, I said, "By the way, I'm gay." His jaw dropped. About two weeks later, I got a call from him, asking to meet for a drink. I agreed. When we met, he apologized for his behaviour, and said that because of his interaction with me, he had been forced to rethink some of his preconceptions of gay men.

The point to this rather lengthy (sorry about that!) response is that we can't change the world, but every once in a while we can make some people think a bit about their attitudes. It would have been interesting to see his response if, as he left your session, undoubtedly a very satisfied customer, you had told him that you were of mixed heritage.

Keep up the good work!

Sashek

Personally, I feel hate and discrimination have no place in any setting, personal or commercial--whether I'm getting paid or doing the paying.

Everyone has to draw their own line--you drew yours after you got paid.

Political correctness is not something that concerns me much in escorts. Twice I've had escorts mention things to me that might be considered politically incorrect, and I just took it for what it was worth.

One, a Brazilian, emphasized that he was white, not mixed race as many Brazilians are, and also indicated to me that he preferred white clients.

Another, a European, told me he did not enjoy Asian clients in that they tended to be selfish. And on the subject of circumcision, he assured me that the reason most Americans are cut is that Jewish doctors convinced people here that it is a health issue. I expressed some doubt about that, but he insisted that it was a well known fact in Europe.

It never crossed my mind to leave in a huff. The guys were just frankly stating personal beliefs.

Hey Gio.

I will have to disagree with you. I think that you are mixing two totally different things here: Morality and Ethics.

I dont know what is required of you, but I never have as an escort encouraged or facilitate :"fantastically innapropiate behaviour". The moral dillemma of wheter he is married or not and he comes to me, is none of my business, since morality is something agreed upon, something regulated by somebody else. (Church, society, etc.)

In the other hand, having sex with a boy, or abussing somebody, or going beyond my own limits and accepting bigotry, hatred and racism, all that fall into the realm of the ethically innapropiate. And that to me, is totally unacceptable. I wont tolerate any of that behaviour in my presence.

That doesnt mean that I have to fight back or make an issue out of it, just kindly let that person know that I find that innapropriate and I disagree and I would rather not being exposed to that. If the person insists, then I will politely excuse myself from his presence, explaining in a kind way why I am doing so. I believe that it is only with respect and tolerance that hatred and bigotry will slowly be erased.

But, no. No professional has to endure such a shamefull experience. No money is worth one's peace of mind.

(And by the way, english is not my first language, sorry about that):+

Hmmmm. I guess I need to go back to Europe for a bit since my well-known European facts seem to have become pretty rusty. Or maybe I just didn't pay attention in school. ;)
