NYC hotel advice

I know this is an old topic, but I just want to narrow it down to one specific issue. Prices in midtown are outrageous, but both the Days (Inn) Hotel and the Best Western President seem to be affordable, well-located, and in decent shape. My question is... does anyone have a recommendation between these two based on their being "understanding" that some guests like to have visitors? It is very annoying to be bothered by hotels asking guests to "sign in" or leave by a certain time, etc. Last time I was in NYC, I stayed in the Marriot Marquis, spent $500 a night, and had security have the nerve to call me late one night to ask if my guest was planning to stay all night! I went off!! So which is it guys? Best Western, or Days Hotel?

I booked the BW President for an overnight in late Sept. Booked for two adults and got two keys. No sweat. Accommodations acceptable if not really spacious. Also got a good rate for AAA.

I have stayed at both and never had a problem with guests at any time. Gaiety dancers often stay at the Days Inn, too. They're OK places but far from great.

 

I's true that prices are sending us to places like these. I have now discovered https://www.express-res.com/ and book my rooms well in advance--really low rates for really good rooms, just takes a little bit of an effort to search all their specials.

Having stayed many nights at the Marriott, I can say that I never paid more than $179 a night. For $500, it is surprising that they cared how many people were in the room! My experience was that I never had a problem with security.

I have stayed twice at the Days Hotel, one good room, one bad room.

The Hotel Empire can be booked through Express Reservations at a nice discount. It is at Lincoln Center, nice rooms, and no staff problems.

I also recommend Express Reservations. Has anyone stayed at or had any staff problems at the Helmsley Windsor or Loews New York? I've found their rates to be less than $200...

Being in the Hotel Business (in the Pacific Northwest), it is important to note WHY a security officer or other member of the staff would call and ask if your guest was going to spend the night.

 

We must know how many persons are in each room in case of an emergency. If there is a fire or earthquake we need to provide our staff as well as emergency workers with an accurate head count. This way there is not a possibility of any guest being overlooked.

 

The best way to handle this is to book a room for two as did TY. In most instances the additional charge is miminal if any and this way your activities do not look suspicious to the staff.

I have stayed at the Crown Plaza at the UN and the Belverdere. Both have some nice rooms and I have never had problems with the staff calling my room.

Personally, if I do not want to bring a stranger to my apartment in NYC, I check into the Royalton, 44 West 44 Street, New York City, NY 10036 US.

 

I would prefer the Four Seasons because they polish my shoes, but they also call me by my name too much and that becomes annoying. Besides, they're way tooooooo expensive. But the bathrobes and service are as good at the Royalton and prices much more reasonable.

 

Oh, and the desk help are beautiful.
