How Many Phone Calls Turn Into Actual Clients

Having never really been an newspaper advertised whore, it has been a whole new experience for me this weekend in D.C. and the week earlier in Chicago. All but one of the clients I saw in Chicago were prescheduled and arranged, one from this site, and the rest from AOL or other web sites. Of course, in Chicago I only ran a short text ad. In D.C., where I ran one of the photographs where I am certain I look just like the father of the former govenor of the state I am about to visit, I have eaten up 400 minutes of prepaid cell phone time in two days. How many of those calls have turned into actual clients? Two. (More about that later).

 

I honestly cannot imagine potential clients who cannot understand you are about to enter a subway and need to call them back or are eating or are in the middle of another client and simply refuse to hang up though. I would honestly be curious to find out from my fellow escorts about how many phone calls from newspaper advertisements they get, how many are pure crank phone sex type calls, and how many turn into actual clients.

 

By the way, people, you would not be amazed at the number of gay (or at least gay sexually leaning straight men) in the metro DC area do not have access or own a computer.

Although I'm not an escort, I do play with them. Although that has nothing to do with my story which, admitedly, goes back quite a few years.

 

There was a time when I used to get a great number of interesting phone calls. Usually late at night. More often than not on weekends, including Sunday nights. The calls all had a similar tone: Are you available? Do you fuck? Are you a top? Never a "Hi, this is Joe." Right to the punch.

 

This continued for some time, to the extent that I needed to instruct household guests NOT to pick up the phone if it rings late at night.

 

One night, the message was a bit different. "Do you take credit cards?". Although I had my suspicions before, know I knew. I turned to the back of the Blade and scanned the escort ads. Sure enough there was an ad with a telephone number one digit off from mine.

 

Always wondered if I was getting that many mis-dials, how many calls was the escort getting.

 

I do have two questions about your post. Both deal with the question of why did you answer your phone. Just because we have cell phones doesn't mean we have to answer them. Most have a voice mail feature. Although the decision to answer or not when you are about to enter the Metro affects only you. As a client, I'd be annoyed with an escort if he answered another call while with me. For that hour, it IS all about me.

NEVER While With Clients

 

I always put my cell phone on vibrate if I bring it with me to a client or they come to my hotel room. In Los Angeles, I never use the cell phone, I only use it while traveling, so bringing it to a client or even having it on me all the time is very unusual.

 

In my post, if I did not make it clear, all the interruptions were while I was eating (I am old fashioned enough that I think one should step out or return the call later) or in transit to the subway, which has been my main method of transport in both Chicago and D.C. or on the streets.

 

As for letting it go to voicemail, I have gotten a lot of hang ups or blocked numbers. Even when they have not left a message, I have returned the call if it was within a few minutes after they called.

Sorry, I meant speaking on the phone with a potential other client when I was speaking on the one with another potential. I always said, excuse me, let me take the call, so I could tell the other person, I would call them back, and only when it said "CALLER ID - BLOCKED" - if the number was listing, I would simply call them back when done.
