In another forum, a message center user asked for recommendations for a good time during a 6-hour layover in a major metropolitan area.

Given that things come up and that 6 hours is not a very long window of opportunity, how would any of the Escorts feel about somebody who told them that the Escort was not the clients first choice, but that the client was willing to offer some amount of cash in advance to make a reservation, just in case the first choice date fell through?

And what do y'all think would be a fair percentage of your normal hourly rates to standby for 20 minutes while the client confirms his primary date (or not ... ) ?

(Is this throwing aviation-grade kerosene on an open flame? I am somewhat serious about this ... even though I don't have any major business travel forseable in the next sixth months ;-) )

elementary?

well, 20 minutes is one-third of an hour, no?

i'd think 1/3 of the hourly fee would work then. i would caution you to be careful in the way you phrase things though. there's a fine line between honesty & rudeness sometimes. terms such as "stand-by" and "second choice" could be offensive if you're not careful.

I have a dictionary, but since you're the orthographic crutch here I tend not to use it when I post.

I said nothing about your intelligence.

Getting back to the original question...

Is the following the scenario you are proposing?

Days (weeks?) before your planned trip, you contact escort #1 and escort #2. Since you are not sure #1 will actually be available during your 6 hour layover, you want to ask #2 to be ready just in case #1 isn't available?

If I understood you correctly, I would say that you should expect to pay #2's entire fee if you actually expect him to wait for you "just in case" you can't hook up with #1. After all, that escort could make other bookings for the same time (or shortly before or afterwards), and if he is actually making sure he is available for you, this is the equivalent of having scheduled an appointment with him.

I suggest that what might make more sense is to try to get a firm booking with your #1 choice. If he is not available, either actually book someone else or call several other options, leaving all of them tentative. (You might ask if they are sometimes available at a moment's notice, since you won't know until you get to know whether you will be able to see them.) Then, if you can't hook up with #1 when you arrive, call your back-ups.

Perhaps I'm wrong and you will find some escort who thinks that holding a block of time for someone on a conditional basis is reasonable, but in my experience escorts either schedule in advance for specific dates/times and/or accept last-minute calls. Is there an escort here who would be comfortable committing to what is being requested, regardless of the words used?

Words from the retiree:

Personally, I never would hold time open for a new client. It was amazing how many first timers would call back and say that they friends called them out to dinner. Considering that this is L.A., my other escort friends and I foudn this funny that the only people that seemed to be so spur of the moment with dinner dates were the guys calling us!

Except for my regulars, 5% of those guys actually followed through. I called them 5 per-centers.
