Notification bug or user stupidity…

I do not get notifications about all the topics I follow when a new post happens. I also just feel like by default if I comment, I should get a notification. Is there a setting I’m missing? I definitely have slid the switch on some topics to follow and have to still to go looking to find out someone has commented and I didn’t get the notification.

There is a section there for Followed Content.  There you can choose the type of notification you receive.  If you're settings are already set to notify, try disabling it...  then reopening the options page again and enabling it.  

As a reminder...  for old threads you're active in, you might need to unfollow/refollow that thread for the updated notification settings to trigger again.
