I have seen many articles about websites that can install malware on your computer, porn sites being among the biggest culprits.  I love porn and have a few regular sites that I go to but every once in a while I come across a site that's unfamiliar.  How am I able to tell if it's safe to go on that site?

(Not sure if this should be on the tech thread or here)

Anyone using the internet (porn sites or not) needs to have a robust anti-virus program running on their computer.  A quick google of "antivirus software" will bring up a number of possibilities at various costs (including free ones) as well as review sites comparing them.

I've used the ~$50/year AVG security plan for years and haven't had any apparent problem, despite prolific porn surfing 😀.....a "warning" box comes up if you try to open a bad website and it prevents it from proceeding......

there are many very good free security packages that probably do the same thing, but may have ads or extra promotions or something......also, I occasionally get tantalizing ads from AVG itself trying to get me to buy extra stuff.....

as robear says, computer security is a must!......there will be settings and preferences you'll need to navigate, but soldier thru all that.....
