Slumdog Millionaire - Mickey Rourke-IMHO Definitely worth a Nom..

But ya never know, when ya tell alot of people to go F#*k themselves it can come back to Bite ya in the Ass..As we've all seen around here over the Years with some "Best Of" Working Guys Falling way off the List! ;-)

Interesting that Kate Winslet, winner of the Golden Globe for best actress in Revolutionary Road, was not nominated for an Oscar in that movie. However, her Oscar nomination is well deserved for her acting in The Reader.

Just a quick glance - I watched Golden Globes and I noticed Bruce Springsteen who WON Best Song for "The Wrestler" isn't nominated.

I have to have my SAG ballot in tomorrow so just finished seeing the movies nominated with the last film today BENJAMIN BUTTON.

Boy it's a tough call. I have enjoyed all the nominated movies this year, all for different reasons.

Standing out in my mind are:

The performance of Meryl Streep in DOUBT

The performance of Heath Ledger in DARK KNIGHT

The performance of Frank Langella in FROST/NIXON (I remember him in one of his first films THE 12 CHAIRS by Mel Brooks. Boy what a career this guy has had.)

The performance of Sean Penn in MILK.

Everything about SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE.

I am surprised the nominations for Cinematography did not include AUSTRALIA (a film I enjoyed greatly tho it wasn't a big box office performer in this country).

I have been staring at my ballot for 30 minutes and still don't know who to vote for....

My friends walked out on Australia, and no doubt I would too. I liked Slumdog as much as anyone. I think Streep is highly overrated, and any good actor could have played the part in Doubt without breaking a nail.

I saw Langella do the role live on stage in London, and was amazed. Then I thought his film performance was even better.

As for Sean Penn, yes, he was great. But he played a man that few alive would know, so we really don't know how well he played the man. Langella had the much harder task of playing a well-known villain. And he humanized him, and no one doubted that he played Nixon.

So there. Vote for the kid in The Reader with the cock..I know, a write-in, but hey, it's your ballot!

In his earliest films he was so handsome it made your heart stop.

So glad that the Academy did the right thing and recognized Melissa Leo for Frozen River. I am one of the few who saw the movie -- based on the raves she had been getting.

She was so real and so raw -- that before long I felt I was watching a reality TV show -- rather than a scripted movie. She is THAT good -- and the movie is a nail-biter too.

She has no shot at winning -- but, like Amy Ryan last year, this will give a career shot in the arm to another talented character actress who has always been brilliant -- but never became a "name" star.
