I regret to start with a negative experience with such an attractive guy https://rentmasseur.com/eddiemanhattan

I contacted him and after a couple of date exchanges agreed on a Thursday at noon to be reconfirmed on Wednesday.  On the preceding  Wednesday I checked his RM ad and see that the guy is in SF.  I text him and four hour later he says that since his flight might be delayed (?) he wanted to reschedule. Glad that I checked his ad!  A friend that had met him told me he was flaky.

He said he was very busy the next days and going away for the weekend, so we rescheduled for this last Wednesday noon. Then it was my fault as I got the runs because of something I ate and canceled Tuesday midnight.  Feeling better late Wednesday we set up another session for today at noon.

In the morning he asks me if we could have it at 1pm instead. I said yes, I told him I was punctual, he sent me his address again.  I am in the subway platform at 12:30pm when I get a text: "can we move it to 3:00pm? I forgot that I had a haircut appointment at 1:25pm which I need as I have an event tonight"

We are done was my reply.

This is why I almost always book appointments last minute, some masseurs are flaky.  If you book last minute, they are more likely not to flake on you.  However, the more popular masseurs normally can't be booked last minute.

I recently had an experience with a masseur that is excellent where I booked with him almost a week in advance, let him give me the date and time, and I confirmed.  I go to the appointment, and he has company.  He had no idea we were supposed to meet.  I showed him the texts, and he was bewildered.  He asked me to come back in an hour, and I said yes.  Then ten minutes later he texted me saying he is too tired to do it (it was later in the evening) and apologized for the miscommunication. I guess my fault a little that I did not confirm day of, but still...

The sense that I get from EddieManhattan and other successful masseurs are that clients are a dime a dozen.  Unfortunately, they don't particularly care about you or your time if you are inconvenient to their plans or situations.  They literally could care less if they don't get your money, there will be someone else waiting...  I also now avoid booking if I know the masseur is about to go on a trip or coming back from a trip.

Although I tend to agree with you, it's unfortunate and no way to run a business.  If a massseur comes off with that kind of attitude, then I don't want to give him my $$$ either.  Arranging and getting a massage should be an enjoyable stress free event.  I don't need the drama.  We all do get sick and have the unexpected happen,  that's tolerable but repeat offenders are not worth the bother no matter how good they may be.  Time is valuable for both of us and I'm not just a money machine for anyone.

Nothing lost. Eddie's not much of a masseur anyway.

Basic rub n' tug service, as an entry point for an array of ala' carte menu items for an upcharge

I have received several PMs that seem to indicate that Eddie has moved on to more lucrative practices, including weekends with clients, which confirm @pubic_assistance comment.

Must’ve been the “event” he was preparing for.
I wish the ones who graduated to escort would stop advertising on rentmasseur. I’m tired of wading through established and aspiring escorts while trying to find a skilled massage therapist  who also happens to work nude. *brandishes cane*

I have never been upcharged.

I think Eddie does want a regular thing. However, he has never upcharged me. And I actually find him to be a nice straight shooter.

Then I assume you pre booked your selections.

I asked for a massage and was offered a whole array of menu items as an option five minutes into the massage

No I didn’t have that experience. I booked a massage, didn’t ask for extras, and paid the massage price which was basically what other masseurs are charging in the mid range these days. There was no talk of cost during our session only when I booked and asked him how much he charged.

actually it didn’t go exactly as planned 🤣 but there was no upcharge. I think i mentioned previously that it’s less about the massage with Eddie but I enjoy and have never been given a menu of services or add-on costs. And I think I’ve gotten pretty much what you can off the menu.

I agree on last minute or pretty close on masseurs I’ve never tried. Yes I agree that some will jump to a better opportunity but honestly I think most just have poor executive function skills. It’s probably one reason they do massage. They don’t operate like the type of people who successfully work in a structured office environment and if they don’t have someone to help them manage their day, chaos often follows which is misidentified as the client being considered an after thought or a dime a dozen.

You may be right, but I can’t be shlepping all around town for nothing, especially when the subway seems to take forever for me, and I don’t live in Hell’s Kitchen.  The person I was talking about cancelled on me before, but had a legitimate excuse.  Someone else cancelled on me recently for the fourth time (he cancelled on me three times in a row awhile ago).

The two or three times I went to EddieManhattan, he never offered me a menu either.

So you're trying to claim that Eddie went full menu for the price of a simple massage ? Call me skeptical.

Skeptical is not the first thing that came to mind! I’m not trying to claim anything. I’m also not known as a liar or exaggerator on these boards so view it as you wish. I guess that’s what people mean by YMMV.

I didn't call you a liar.

But given MY experience I can't imagine that anyone ( including you ) just randomly got extras thrown in for free.

So there's something you're leaving out of these encounters.

Uh yes you are calling me a liar by omission. I’m not leaving anything out. I don’t think I Randomly got anything for free. Or maybe I did and the times I’ve gone to see him he was in a generous mood.  On the other hand that seems too random and I think he just liked what he was presented with. I’m sorry he did not react to you the same way. As the saying goes, YMMV. And apparently with Eddie it does indeed. I’m sure there are others out there that would like what you offer—or maybe not. 🤷‍♂️

He does it.  I've had the same experience.  In fact, as I was preparing to leave after one massage + full service round, he tried to talk me into a second round in bed, skipping the massage table entirely, without any suggestion that there would be an upsell beyond the price of one massage.  (Unfortunately, I had another time sensitive appointment and couldn't take him up on his interest, which bummed me out because he is hot.)  I don't know whether he was just horny as hell or whether I'm his type or what, but it happened.

As I have often stated...it is not unusual for providers to be generous with a regular.

In my case, I was a ONE n' DONE customer.  Didn't care for the service so didn't repeat.

I’m far far far from a regular. And the few times I have seen him I’ve not always taken him up on what’s been available.

He’s a very nice guy imo. he’s well traveled and interesting. Oh and sexy. And horny—well at least for some of us 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Eddie is definitely flakey with his appointments. Happened to me when he was in Atlanta as mentioned in other threads. Don’t contact him if you’re looking for a real massage.  When we finally did meet my session pretty much was a 10 minute back rub that just went into full service that wasn’t all that. Eddie is a nice guy but I wouldn’t stress about trying to meet him again.
