Lucille could be abrupt, humorless and grumpy.

She was also known as an astute businesswoman. Some say the true managing force behind Desilu.

When Lucille Ball realized a dream of being in a Broadway musical, "Wildcat" that opened in New York in December, 1960. People came to see "Lucy" not "Wildcat Jackson."

Lucille sang the one hit song, "Hey, Look Me Over" on the Ed Sullivan Show" on Sunday night. Perhaps she should have skipped his show and rested.

Singing and dancing wasn't her strong point, and carrying a musical that received mixed reviews was more difficult  than she realized.

Long story, short. Ms. Ball closed the show, financed by Desilu. Lucille and Desilu refunded all the money for those who purchased tickets for all performances cancelled.
