"Were The World Mine"

There is a gay movie starting today in New York and San Francisco. That's not new, but what might be is the lengthy and satisfying review it received in today's NY Times. Critic Stephen Holden calls it "endearing."

The story revolves around Timothy, who is playing Puck in the school play "A Midsummer Night's Dream." I'll let you read the review, but essentially a love juice is disovered that makes people gay by tossing it into their eyes. Not a few townspeople experience this juice, but Timothy's dream hunk is one of them, so many of our own fantasies about straight friends can be realized by a vicarious pleasure in this movie.

Incidentally, the Times also reviews a film about Muslim lesbians- it didn't get near the space or the accolades of "Were The World Mine." I hope some of the New Yorkers or SF'ers here will report on this movie.
