Great Post... Yeah there has been an uptick in prices.  And from some (IMHO) who don't deserve to charge that high.  I posted something not too long ago how masseurs may offer great amenities (hence the higher price). However, when they are traveling and can't offer these, they still keep that high price.

Whats up with this?

Also on the increase is many ads with a price of "ask" - again with some who I scratch my head at "really"

I agree there is a relationship to price and quality.  Higher the price LOWER the quality of massage

Again IMHO I think these high rates are geared at those who want MORE than a massage but don't want the stigma of hiring an escort.

Again these are all my opinions.. Please don't trash me for being honest and for saying what many think but don't say :)

I agree with @BeefyDude. In NYC I have seen an uptick in prices by some masseurs and, interestingly, oftentimes by ones who have gotten mixed to negative feedback in this forum. Conversely, the more popular and well-reviewed guys have generally kept their prices stable. These are just my observations.

Also advice to masseurs - know your market.  What you might get away with in NYC for pricing may not work in every city

Also as some may know i'm still unemployed so have cut way back on massages.  If I see one that looks good (i.e. mezzo) but has a high price I dont see any harm asking if they that price is firm or any wiggle room.  Hell some money is better than NO money.

The "ask" price is  insane and should be removed.  What are those persons hiding?

I wish sites like RentMasseur would put caps on the prices based on where they are advertising. Like if they do put down for $200 for an hour in-call, and the average rate in the area otherwise is $120 that they need to provide more amenities etc. be bumped down, or referred to the sister site of rentmen.

Totally agree with the 'Ask Me' has to go.

I also like how RM puts how long they were a member.  So if someone has been on the site for years vs. someone a month ago - it makes a difference.

Wish MF site would do that.  Also wish MF site would NOT restrict the amount of reviews. It is very difficult to review someone there. I think I was told they can only do 1 a quarter. WTF is up with that.  One would think more reviews are good.

Oh well...

I always ask the fee even if their fees are posted. Sometimes the fee they quote is more and sometimes less than the one in their ad. Either I accept the fee they give me and schedule an appointment, or I move on. The choice is mine to make.

I hope I’m not the only one here that feels like these new wave of “masseurs” posting on RentMasseur/Masseurfinder are really greedy posting rates $180+ considering we are at the tail end of a pandemic and they are new to the “masseur” gig. I don’t know, just venting. 😅

Supply and demand is a beautiful thing. You get to vote with your wallet. If there is no demand at a certain price per hour, the price will likely come down. Which leads me to conclude that they are seeing business at that price point. Insert “folks are flush with stimulus cash” joke here. 🤓

Vent if you must, but it is unlikely to fix the situation or make you any happier. 😏

And flipping the coin, I also think some masseurs want to give and charge for an escort experience without the stigma of being labeled an escort.

I don't  like to see 'ask' either, but I think those masseurs provide escort services, but can't say that in their ad.  I've never contacted an 'ask' masseur, but I'm told that's why they say that.

I would mostly agree but there have been enough times where this was not true - which is why i scratch my head on those

Some therapists also have two different rates; one for therapeutic and a higher one for sensual. If it’s the first time I’m seeing a new therapist, I almost always communicate that I want to book the therapeutic only. More often than not, I’ve gone for a therapeutic massage and the therapist made their own decision to take it further…and I pay the lower rate because in that instance they couldn’t keep their hands  away from the goods…

I am so grateful that in Houston, I can still receive an excellent 90-120 minute therapeutic + sensual (MT/HE) massage from a handsome, congenial licensed practitioner in a CLEAN studio (or in my home) for less than $150.
