Yes. Living in the boroughs isn't such a bad thing if you can save $1k+ a month in rents.

 

Personally, I'd live in Queens in a heartbeat. The Forest Hills area is incredibly livable.

Whats the reason why you think they choose Manhattan to live at?

Convenience. Ease of getting from point A to point B in a timely manner. Areas like Forest Hills, Riverdale, Ditmas Park very pretty, hard to get to without multiple subway lines, cabs or uber. Cabs, uber and surface travel always an issue as you never know when the 59th street bridge, one of the bridges to Brooklyn or MidTown Tunnel has a backup. Rent savings easily offset by travel expense and clients do not want the hassle of traveling out to the outer boroughs, especially at off hours.
