I should have mentioned, that's what I need in D.C. Mediocre buzz cuts do not look good on my almost white hair.

 

The gay hairdresser I normally went to and loved decided to retire when Covid struck. He also moved out of D.C. He recommended someone else in the salon. I've been to the new guy twice, but I'm not happy. I haven't observed anyone else in that salon that offers confidence. I'm still working and I need my hair to look better. Too many meetings where people have only me to focus on.

Virginia hits Phase 1 this Friday, which I believe covers barbers/salons open but at limited capacity. So you might just need to cross. the river.

There's a barber shop with a primarily black clientele in Alexandria that I absolutely loved—Ultimate Styles Barbershop at 1308 Mt. Vernon. There would literally be people waiting outside on the sidewalk—and almost every client they saw wanted a clipper/fade-style cut. Be sure to request the owner or his son, and be prepared to wait for a chair and your actual haircut. They do not do a rush job, and it might have cost $30.

My barber is in San Francisco; they're due to open during the second week of July. Just yesterday I managed to find a local barber in my area who has recently opened a "grand" shop. He and his partners are only taking appointments. He's booked for the good part of June and will not work on beards although I don't have one. ...would like to have my 'stach trimmed, but since beards are out-- I presume mustaches are also.
