Chris Bowman Died

Christopher Bowman was a very cute and very talented figure skater in the late 1980s and won the U.S. National Champion Title twice. He was charismatic and a great crowd pleaser. He had been a child actor and enjoyed performing. He just died, in a Budget Inn in California, at the age of 40 and weighing somewhere between 260 and 300 pounds. He had been married twice and had a daughter from his first marriage. Most recently he had been coaching skating in the Detroit area. In an interview a few years ago, he said that when he was in his prime, he had a $950 per day coke habit. Sad.

I saw this in the Washingto Post and it is indeed a sad story. The Post had a very well written article but then turned nasty at the end with a snide comment about his weight. I found it just a bit too mean for an obituary.

I still have VHS tapes of major figure skating events from the 80s and 90s. I remember Chris so well. He didn't practice long hours as most skaters. Sometimes, he went out on the ice and seemed to just wing it. But there was always an element of surprise in his skating. You never knew what you were going to see. He had potential for being even better had he been able to use it, but at least he seemed to really enjoy himself on the ice.

It's sad that people who are born so gifted act like such jerks. I hope he can at least serve as a warning lesson for others?

And people talk about some escorts having pics that don't look like them? I was almost in shock to see this one after not seeing Christopher Bowman since his figure skating career ended.
