I think you've nailed it: if there's no one locally who really appeals to me, has decent reviews, etc. I lose interest. Also, I have a lot less interest in hosting these days so that limits the options.

I go thru cycles as well. It usually results when I'm bored and there isn't anyone I'm interested in trying. Also, there are times where I have tried different masseurs who i had hoped would be good and turn out to be the opposite.

We all hire masseurs for a variety of reasons (e.g., relief, pleasure, intimacy, to get off, etc.). I've noticed that when I get these wants taken care of elsewhere, I'm less motivated to get massages (e.g., FWB). A lack of access to masseurs whom I'm excited about can also drain my motivation. Although I don't have this issue now, I used to live in KS.

I credit my losing interest to aging, which might link to "if you don't use it, you lose it."

I actually wish I one day lose interest too. I’ve been trying to hold off from hiring but just couldn’t resist. Getting massages from masseurs whom I like is a pricey addiction. And I think you’re correct. If the ones who are accessible to you don’t interest you, that is a huge factor. Hopefully you soon find that perfect masseur that would rekindle the spark.

I too have somewhat lost interest. Mostly due to no one really peaks my interest. There is a couple of people I see 2-3 times a year. And anyone new it sort of a pain to vet them. And to be honest, I did use this site for feedback and what other say. But since people on this site are more limited or cautious about what they say (and rightly so) it has sort of gotten hard to vet people.

Really? Certainly when discussing spa masseurs in the forum we need to be cautious, but for private masseurs and with private messages, I’ve typically felt pretty assured about decisions I’ve made thanks to the forum community.

I certainly agree that the forum has helped me in making decisions. And I can't say I was led astray at anytime by forum members. We just can't really write reviews or say too much. I have had private message that has definitely helped.
