It sounds as if you're doing everything correctly. If it hasn't been done already, it might be a good idea to confirm the diagnosis by getting a scraping and looking under the microscope. It's a bit difficult to do, and not usually done the first go-around, but probably worthwhile if the correct treatment isn't working.

I think that there shouldn't be an embarrassment when it comes to your health. It's very important to get regularly tested for STDs even if one doesn't have any symptoms.

 

If you're afraid to talk to your "normal" doctor, every large agglomeration in the USA has a gay and lesbian community center that offers free screening and treatment for STDs. There is an anonymous test for HIV (rapid test) and confidential test for HIV and all others STDs.

 

Just google "gay and lesbian community center + city/state" to find the nearest address.
