I was wondering if anyone else has been watching the HBO series Mrs. Fletcher. It features as Eve Fletcher, a single mom whose son, Brendan (Jackson White), is headed off to college, leaving her alone for the first time in two decades. She is disatisfied with her job running an assisted living facility and decides to fill the new void in her life by signing up for a class at the local community college coupled with exploring her sexual desires through online porn. All the while, her son faces the world of college where he is no longer the popular kid and realizes that he lacks some of the interests and characteristics that make his classmates fun to be around. So, simply put, mom is having a mid-life crisis while her son is having a quarter-life crisis. Both are handled eloquently (and when appropriate, not so eloquently) but at the same time very realistically.

I have liked it so far and as Jackson White is pretty good looking with a nice body (which he shows off fairly regularly) makes watching the series even more enticing. There is also a trans character which is fairly intriguing. I believe it is a limited series. I also find it compelling that all the episodes are directed by women.

Alas it is and will be limited run series of nine episodes. HBO has declined to renew.

I’ve greatly enjoyed the seven episodes aired to date. There’s a wonderful parallel plot of sexual awakening between Eve and her son Brenden. The last episode ended with Brenden arriving home late at night and unannounced only to find mother Eve naked in bed with one of her plus sized colleagues and one of his former high school classmates who he bullied. It’s how each of them got to that point that’s interesting. I’m going to miss Mrs Fletcher when it’s over.

It is interesting that Brendan's humiliation has driven him home and then he must acknowledge the guy he had previous bullied as being someone who was presently fucking his mother. I would imagine this might be a second humiliation. However he certainly deserved it.
