This actually is nice but its probably more due to the piano for myself than anything else.

Do you know the difference between white noise and ASMR?

I remember listening to white noise youtube vids like these to go to sleep sometimes too.

All I can think of is just the sound level.

A lot of white noise could also be ASMR, but I used to have a white noise generator and it never helped me get to sleep.

Certain kinds of music also helps with sleep, but what works is narrower than is the case with ASMR.

I enjoy audio erotica when it's part of a well written novel (or novella) and has well developed characters, an actual story-line and plot. But for me, this is not porn and does not fuel JO sessions. I've attempted to to listen to hardcore audio porn but tend to be put off by the narrator's attempts to sound sexy. My brain does a much better job at bringing written porn to life than an actor's narration.

How in the royally fucked hell do you know about Straight to Hell? WOW. :)

I was raised right. ;)

This remind me, I contributed to StH, I have (somewhere) a typewritten note signed by Boyd thanking me for my story. I couldn't tell you which encounter the story was about, I was a bit...prolific! :p

I think a lot of men are visual (hence all the porn mags and vids) and women tend to be more mental (hence all the romance novels).

That's a bit of an overgeneralization, considering that there are gentlemen here who enjoy written and aural erotica and women here who only get off to visual porn. And by women I mean me. Erotica and fanfic used to work for me as well, but not so much anymore.

I also only started reading romance recently, primarily because I was baffled because the fanfic I wrote was considered romance, which led me to question what romance is. I started with m/m romance but now mostly read m/f, and I don't read it for the sex -in fact I often wish physical attraction weren't emphasized so much, as that is not the major factor for me in romantic attraction, so I find the emphasis tedious and unrelatable (and also an equation of sexual attraction with love when they aren't the same things).

That's why I said "a lot" instead of "all" or "most". ?

Clearly. And congratulations for getting published in Straight To Hell. That's excellent. This is a great article, written by a woman, about STH:

And this is a more recent issue for sale, a very good tribute:

Oh, and Also, I have Boyd's book about Film. If you're in LA I can lend it to you, OldNBusted.

I can get off on written erotica but I need well developed characters and storylines. Stories where guys just find each other and start sucking and fucking or do it in almost every chapter are lame and not worth my time.

I recommend the printed version of the Aaron Travis book I posted above. The stories are very developed. Remember, the stories are intense, you've been warned.

Thanks. I will definitely check them out. Do you mean intense as in the sex or as in scary like a horror movie. Either is find for me, I'm just wondering.

I think a lot of men are visual (hence all the porn mags and vids) and women tend to be more mental (hence all the romance novels).

Human males being more visual is a long held belief. Recent research, while limited, is unsurprisingly showing that sexual arousal is much more complicated and likely highly influenced by psychosocial cultural factors.

https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10508-007-9217-9

Based on the literature reviewed, we conclude that content characteristics may differentially produce higher levels of sexual arousal in men and women. Specifically, men appear more influenced by the sex of the actors depicted in the stimuli while women’s response may differ with the context presented. Sexual motivation, perceived gender role expectations, and sexual attitudes are possible influences.

This is a very small study, but worth considering: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10508-013-0076-2

Sexually explicit stimuli resulted in larger genital responses; women reported higher subjective sexual arousal than men; and fantasizing about one’s partner resulted, overall, in higher subjective sexual arousal and higher levels of positive affect. Moreover, in women, the instruction to fantasize about one’s partner resulted in stronger subjective sexual arousal to the explicit film than the instruction to fantasize about someone else. Results suggested that physiological, subjective, and affective responses to erotic film stimuli are impacted not only by stimulus characteristics but also by the viewer’s interpretation of the depicted relationship.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0018506X11000638

Instances of discordance between response components suggest that they are, at least in part, under the control of different mechanisms, and it is proposed that a better understanding of sexual arousal will prove contingent on a better understanding of such mechanisms and the conditions under which they converge and diverge.

I, too, am a fan of written porn. It allows me to use my imagination and many of the scenes I come up with are a lot better than some of the ones I've participated in. The poster who talked about written porn being bad that cuts straight to the sex and I agree and would add that I do not get as aroused by video porn if it does that either. For me, half the excitement is seeing how the scene unfolds so these two (or more) people end up screwing one another's brains out.

Agree 100%. Some semblance of plot & setup does a lot more for me.

I agree 100% that Aaron Travis stories are intense... very intense. But not like a horror movie. I'll just say, you should have a box of tissues or some paper towels handy when you start reading. Travis is a talented writer who knows how to bring uber-hot characters to life -- and he creates vivid sex scenes. His stories often include dominant alpha males and subservient guys who service them, either eagerly or by coercion. I get off on the alpha male scenarios although I'm turned off by some of his story-lines that involve coercion. Forced sex is not sexy to me, not even in a fantasy.

I wouldn't mind some Scott Evans + Mario Lopez fiction.

Is this called "slash fiction"? I recall someone on Etsy commissioning a "slash" painting, of John Cena hole-punching Daniel Tosh.

Yes, that would probably be slash fiction. @oldNbusted, I only saw 4 stories with the Mario Lopez tag at AOO. I have no idea if any include Scott Evans. And only three stories on FF with Mario Lopez in them. An in-depth web search might find individual stories on writer's sites.

Thanks, maybe I'll have to try my hand at writing some.
