I'm going there soon and wonder about hiring an escort. There are some ads on RentBoy, Erados, esCupido, and a different escort review site.

I hope that this makes them safe. Any opinion?

One who posts as Charismatic on a few sites looks interesting. Any experience with him or another?

Would you really want to take the chance? I wouldn't. I'd rather stop over in London, coming or going, and taste the delights, but I wouldn't want to get my ass thrown in jail in Egypt or Jordan.

Oh my Allaaaaah!!!!!! Don't even consider doing this in one of these countries. The Islamofacists are nuts and you could be headed to jail or worse. I agree with the previous posters-- stop before or after but don't risk your life for these religious kooks. Remember it might as well be the year 1007 as far as they are concerned with gay anything! ;-)

Peace,

Kipp

No, no and emphatically NO! This is a very bad decision. These are Islamic countries with no tolerance for homeosexual activity. God forbid you get caught. The US Embassy will do little to help you and you will rot in a jail till they decide to behead you. Jail time in the Middle East makes US jails look like a five-star resort!

As others have recommended, stop somewhere else before or after in Europe. Paris, Frankfurt, Prague, Amersterdam and other European cities will be more accomodating to your travel requirements for escorts.

I certainly wouldn't want to advise against the caution but you might find this link of interest. It's an NPR interview with a gay Muslim. Click on the link and then click the Listen button in the upper left.

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=14895672

In case you don't have the 45 minutes to listen, the gist is that gay activity is actually fairly common in Muslim countries due to the segregation of the sexes. On the other hand people and organzations/businesses that openly identify themselves as gay are at risk.

If you're game for street action, you're probably very safe at least from state authority. Probably going to someone advertising themselves as a gay escort wouldn't be so safe.

I'm just passing along what I heard in this post. I don't have any experience, never having been to the mid-east. In any event, stay safe whatever you do and enjoy.

In May of this year, I spent three weeks in Egypt. During one of the three weeks, I cruised on the Nile River. ...had a wonderful and enlightening time devoid of any sexual liaisons.

Before I went to Egypt, I surfed the escort sites and became dubious about having any sexual encounters after reading the plethora of material and advice at http://www.gayegypt.com. There at this site are "warnings," "warnings," and more "warnings." Thus, I enjoyed the myriad of visions while there, as I feared what would happen to me in this ultra homophobic country if I tried to connect (sexually) with any of those fine, hot hunks!

<One day after I had made a purchase in a wonderful factory of very good crafts, my sales associate gave me two trinkets; after I had thanked him, he asked me what would I give to him. My reply was nothing! (I just sensed gaydar all over the place. My heart began beating rapidly; my dick began to stir, and fear raced through my brain. I did manage to give him more Egyptian francs than I had wanted to; I'd miscalculated.

He gave me two other gifts and walked me down the stairs and outdoors.

I smiled and returned to the tour bus and began to recap what I'd just experienced.>

Read the website to which I alluded in the first paragraph. Go to both places (countries); enjoy the antiquity, the history, the culture, the beauty, and looking at the men at length while wearing sun glasses! :-)

While well-meaning, I think your advice is irresponsible. Anyone who even remotely encourages anyone to chance gay sex in these countries just doesn't understand the ramifications of what could happen.

I don't know how to copy and paste the link from my phone but mosey on over to http://www.365.com and check out what is going on in Saudi Arabia. 7,000 lashings doesn't sound like a lot of fun to me.

Greg

I read that too - ouch. The lashings will take place, daily, in a public square until all 7000 have been administered. Their backs will look like raw steak long before it's over. And who keeps count?

Sorry Greg, but the correct URL is:

http://www.365gay.com

This site is the online gay newspaper, is easy to navigate, and covers a wide variety of topics from news to movie reviews. The story that Greg mentioned is under News on the left side of the screen.

If you go to 365.com, you'll be prompted to install characters for some language you don't want, in order to use the site.

Unlike Egypt, Jordan, and most Muslim states, Saudia Arabia practices these barbaric punishments, (flogging, amputation, stoning) for specific crimes as prescribed by Sharia law.

It is also consistent with what I heard in the NPR piece that public declarations of gay identity, like having a wedding party, will attract attention and arrest. Whereas private gay sex is somewhat commonplace and tolerated under the radar.

By this time CT is probably already at his destination. Hopefully we won't read about his exploits on 365gay. (Either that or he's scared out of his wits and sitting this trip out altogether).

No, nothing is going to scare him out of this trip short of an insurrection. x(
