Richard Serra sculptures at MoMA

This show is ending on September 10th and I encourage anyone who hasn't seen it to make a beeline for MoMA. These monumental pieces will take your breath away and make your head spin as you walk around and through them.

I can't say I'm a fan of his work. For years he had an installation at Federal Plaza in dowtown Manhattan near the court houses. As the installation aged it just looked like a rusting hulk of metal that people had to walk around to gain access into the building. It was eventually taken down and a maze of permanent benches replaced it. Neither the art or the benches was particularly attractive.

 

Still, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
