Kinda new here. What does it mean when someone says "Bump"?

They are using a new post to “bump” the thread and it’s header back to the top of the date sorted heap.

Or, in other words, the thread isn't getting any attention and the poster wants to get it back up where people will see it again. New posts always cause a thread to rise back to the top of the list.

It's a ploy used by people who have nothing of value to contribute yet wish to draw attention to and/or somehow keep relevant a post by not saying anything worth reading.
