What's up with this guy?

A week ago, I noticed he had seen my client profile on RM. (Not sure how/why he found me, but not really worried about that.) I took a look at his ad in return and loved it. I also checked out his website (he mentioned it in his ad) and really liked the personable nature of his video self-interview, etc.

 

He's based in DC, and I don't foresee travelling there anytime soon, especially not just for an hour lol - but I decided to send him a message anyway, saying hi, complimenting him on his ad and video, and hinting that if he ever planned to travel to Boston I'd love to meet him.

 

I never got a reply back. Well, ok. But, given his seeming personality I do think it might have been nice to at least get a short response - even just a "I don't think I'll be travelling anytime soon but thanks for the compliments" etc. I know he's not required to do that but again, as I said, it would fit with the earnestness he seems to project. But no big deal.

 

Meanwhile, I had already buddylisted him. Later, that same day or maybe the next, when checking my buddylist, I saw that he had changed his screenname. This happened 2 more times last week - making 4 different screennames in one week.

 

I checked my browser history, and found the screennames.

1) PlayWithMyFeet (the one I first saw, when contacting him)

2) LickMyButt

3) TwinkVideo

4) NudeMassagee (the current one)

 

I doubt I'll ever meet him. But I am curious if anyone has any insight into him? Are there red flags here or is he for real? Just odd.

Ha - very interesting So this erratic behavior seems to be his MO. Really weird.

I believe escorts on RM can see guys logged in who have looked at their profile. They can obviously get info if you've requested their privates as your profile name is on the request. If you go to the RM Dashboard, I think there is some kind of option to turn off notifications to the escorts.

There are two privacy settings around who can see you as a member. One, as @Gar1eth pointed out, controls whether an advertiser can see whether you checked them out. This can be set to "No - don't track me." @bostonman did not check the guy out before receiving the message, so this setting would not have affected whether the escort would have or not have seen him. There is another setting that controls whether your profile is visible when someone does a search. This can be set to "Invisible." My guess is that @bostonman has not changed this setting from "Visible" to "Invisible" and so the escort was able to search for guys in a particular city and in so doing @bostonman's profile displayed in the search results.

 

All that being said, it seems unusual that an escort would send a note to a prospective client and then not reply to the prospective client's reply. Based on a quick read of @bostonman's original post he seems to be as perplexed as I am.

One clarification - he didn't originally send me a note - but he did visit my profile (and I got that notification). The puzzling part is why he was checking out my profile. (And indeed, that when I did send him a message confirming that and also expressing my interest in his ad, it still seems strange that he wouldn't have responded at all. Maybe he was too busy making up new screennames????)

I'm sorry - mis-read your post. Well, at least we know how he found you. Why he was looking - who knows? I was about to say "he seems to be a bit shifty" but that is an understatement. Maybe he is a whack job.
