The details emerging in the arrest of a Nova Scotia man at the Texas/Mexico border this week bear an eerie resemblance to an infamous gay serial killer of 10 years ago. The man, Glen Race, is facing charges in Canada of killing two gay men in what appears to be a serial attack in a gay cruising area of Halifax. The American he is suspected of killing was a custodian at a private estate in northern New York state, whose truck he stole to get to Texas.

These killings are similar to the Andrew Cunanen murders in the 1990's which included Giorgio Armani. In that case Cunanen started on a killing rampage of gay men in various states and then killed a custodian at a remote Civil War site in Pennsylvania to gain access to his truck which he drove to Florida. In both cases the killer was driving one of the victim's cars and then decided to kill someone to get his vehicle in order to dump a hot car.

Although this latest case will not attract the kind on sensational media frenzy that accompanied the Armani murder and subsequent manhunt, it does point out the continuing danger to the gay community from certain individuals who harbor a pathological hatred of gays.

Versace

If RockHard had made this mistake he would say: "Everyone KNOWS I didn't mean that Armani was murdered, but rather that Armani, like Versace, is a famous Italian designer, and like them, I travel in fabulously fabulous circles and have known guys like Cunanan."

And it would be at that point that we'd all pass out from the tedium.

Correctly yours,

Thanks for the correction. My mind is starting to go, which wasn't helped by a notice from my bank this week that I now qualify for a senior's discount! But yes, Versace. And it was Gianni, wasn't it, not Giorgio? That much I remember, I think. :+

Don't worry - it was simply a "blond moment"

We all have them regardless of hair colour.
