Ok so I havent really watched much American Idol in the past but I am usually doing homework at 8pm on tuesdays and wednesdays so I have caught it, this season. Anyway my problem is with Ryan Seacrest. Has he always made these awkward, very childlike and frankly unintelligence comments that attack Simon Cowell sexually. From what I know he is a straight guy and I just think that for him to make these comments just makes Ryan seem completely idiotic. Maybe I am alone in this, I guess i am just suprised that a show as big as American Idol has a host who is so awkward with his statements.

If you have not watched AI in the past you would not be aware of what is happening.

It started several seasons ago (possibly even back to season one). It was Simon who jokingly started this. He would make passing comments about Ryan, inferring that he was less than masculine and Ryan gave them right back.

I think the whole thing is just part of their overall plan to be argumentative, and bitchy towards each other as it is good for the ratings as the public seem to love it.

Simon is known for his rudeness and bitchy comments. Not an accident - it's all planned and well calculated.

Off camera I understand they are the best of friends.

To change the topic slightly. I thought tonights show really sucked!

Certainly Ryan and Simon have bantered back and forth in reference to each of them having ambiguous sexuality. It is old and childish and probably should stop. As for the men, not a great voice and only one passable cute guy, Chris Richardson, in the group.

This year resembles the third year when Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia, Jasmine Trias, Diane DiGarmo and several other women were left without a single male contestant still standing.

I would agree the show tonight was average at best with Chris and Blake the only two male contestants that have a shot at the top 5.

The Simon and Ryan on camera bickering would be better if they did it only once or twice. To do it after each contestant is a bit over the top. But America loves it so I do not see it changing.

I like Melinda Dolittle the best, and also like Lakisha Jones. The guys are not up to the same level. I like Brandon Rogers the best out of the guys, but think that other guys will do better than him.

Both Melinda and Brandon have worked as backup singers, so they both should know what the industry is about, and hopefully select the best songs.

Well, as of tonight we have the final 12. IMO, not a very inspiring group although there are a few bright lights.

The voting public, once again, did not vote on the singing ability of the contestants. What criteria they used remains a mystery to me, but there must be a few tin ears out there.

The most surprising to me is that the skinny young boy with the long hair (his name escapes me) is in the final 12. Proof positive that it is the votes of young female teeny-boppers that determine the results, voting with their crotch not their head. (Or could it be the votes of all the pedophiles out there you lust after teenagers? Probably not)

The best three contestants are all female and all black and two of them have fucking incredible voices. I think the male selection is doomed from the start.

You are right, IMHO. Sanjaya Malakar, should have been voted off two weeks ago. This sort of thing happens every year it seems. You get someone who is maybe cute, and people seem to vote for them based on appearance. One of the best male singers who easily should have been on the top 12 or and probably the top 6 is gone, so it appears to me that a lot of people are tone deaf, and don't have a clue about what the show is really about.....finding a great singer.

Every year there is always a couple average at best singers get through and occassionally go fairly far, such as coupler years ago when Fantasia won and Jennifer Hudson was gone in the final 7. But the people who did not make the final 12, none of the four or the previous weeks for would probably have lasted any more than a couple of weeks. What they miss out on is, the summer tour, meeting industry insiders who are considerable help, producers, and professional help with their voices. Most importantly they miss out on being in the Ford commercials, well okay not a big deal but I always liked them.

The women rule this year so far but remember, demographics indicate a rocker and at least one male will make the final 5 if not 2. I hope this does not come off racial but it is a popularity contest no matter what Simon might think. It will be very hard for all three, Stephanie, Lakisha and Melinda to make even the final 5. Given this is Diana Ross week, Sundace would never have survived this week, but Sabrina would have. Hailey is this year Kelly Pickler, she will fail on her own.

Augustman I am with you 100%. I am looking forward to seeing what Melinda will do next week. I do find that the audio mix can be less than desirable at times on the shows, and it almost appears that the producers are trying to push certain people by the different things they have done. Sometimes the music and backup singers are a bit too loud for my liking, and then there's times where there is a lot of camera work going on. Sure one cay say that it has to do with the music, but there are times when I would have done things much difrently than the show's director, and sound mixer.

Out of the THOUSANDS of men that auditioned, THIS was the best they could find in America?

Clearly, it's between Lakisha and Melinda. Who made it into the Top 12 or goes home each week is irrelevant. The only show that really matters is the final one where Lakisha and Melinda go head to head. And even then it doesn't matter who wins because both of them will get recording contracts. It will be wonderful to watch because those two ladies are gonna tear it up.

First, wow did Diana Ross look out of it. How much make-up and drugs does she need before she goes on tonight. Now is when she could play Billie Holiday and probably win the Oscar and she does not even have to act.

When they have Michael Jackson week is he actually going to let the contestants touch him, or they planning on having Liz Taylor their to support him.

As expected it was a rough show for the guys. Diana Ross music is not very male friendly to begin with. The songs with the best chances were just brutalized by Branden, of all the songs to forget the words to, and Sanjaya, is he afraid to belt it out. That song is suppose to sung loud and with force. I know it is cruel but this is a one and out show and to forget the words, only one song, but Katy forgot words last season too and made it to the final. Hailey I did not realize she did until Paula said something, but Branden who other than Melinda has the most experience and has stage experience with some of this music.

I thought the judges were right on most of the time except, too harsh for Blake, I liked his rendition. Why on earth Chris chose Evergreen, that is a girl song and maybe Hailey. I thought they were too generous with Jordin at the end good performance but not even close to Kiki and Melinda. FFF you are right lets just get to the season end Kiki and Melinda who were perfect. I thought most were okay to average. I did not think this would be such a tough night there were a lot of songs to pick from, maybe too many. Besides would it not have been cool to have Diana Ross to say after she heard Sanjaya, something like "How the hell did you make it here, my God there is no way I am letting you brutalize one of my songs! Go model underwear!"

It should be Sanjaya but he should have been gone after week one, I do not know if he even makes bottom three, I am thinking Branden, Stephanie and Hailey in bottom 3, I'll guess Branden. How could he forget those words, I mean I love Phil Collins version better than Diana Ross one and not even a good vocal.

Sanjaya aint goin' home tonight or apparently anytime soon if this site has its way:

If I had a heart I'd actually feel sorry for the kid. He has no business being on the show yet each week he's trotted out and humiliated in front of tens of millions of people. No sweet 17yo kid should be exposed to the cruelty he's having to endure.

If it weren't at his expense, I'd love for him to make it to the finals just to see the judges heads explode like in Scanners.

Re Sanjaya - as I predicted previously and will say again........

This guy will be around for quite a while because the millions of gum-chewing tennyboppers in the bowels of America will keep on voting for him because "he is so cute - so adorable"

I think it's an insult to our intelligence to have to endure him week after week.

The audio mixing this week was terrible. I am sure it sounded well in the theatre, but it sure lacked on their broadcast. It sounds as though they are taking their audio feed from the house mixing board which is a big mistake. A sound board in a studio is adjusted to overcome acustic problems within the building, so when a person uses that mix on a recording, it lacks. They definately need two mixing boards, and if they are using two, then someone isn't listening into their headphones.

I think last year or the year before that, someone set up a website pushing a singer that wasn't all that good, and he may have made it to the final six.
