It's interesting how escorts choose a name. Many just choose some vague moniker like JockXXL or HugeTop, or something impersonal. While others make up a real-life type name like Joe Smith or Paul Jones. Personally, I find that the I'm much more likely to hire an escort with a "real" name as opposed to fake sounding descriptive names. Generally, I've found that the "real" name guys tend to be more "real" escorts, as opposed to all the fakes out there who are regularly denounced on this forum.

There's certainly no hard and fast rule, there are guys on both sides who are "real" and those who are fake. However, if you look at the escorts who are named by posters here as their all-time favorites, I think you'll see most have either a full real name (first and last) or at least a first name.

My best experiences for example have been with Jason Markus, Steve Roberts, Mike Grey, Rafael Alencar, Mario Ortiz, Rafael Carreras, Adam Michaels, ANYCStud, Vito Gallo, Bruce Beckham, and Marek (porn name Jake Havoc). Only one with a descriptive moniker.

Of course many of these are pornstars who more or less have to have a "real" name so they can have a memorable identity.

On the other hand, most of the fakes I've come across have one of those descriptive monikers. I won't name them, but just look at the fakes named on these forums and you'll see what I mean.

The thing is, the monikers are hard to remember and mostly meaningless. Which is the point, I think. I can't remember all the XXXLthis and Jockwhatever names. The straight guy who is trying to make a few bucks without really having sex doesn't intend to be around for long. He doesn't want an identity. He just wants to have a name for a temporary ad that will draw some eyes.

Maybe my perception is flawed, but it looks like to me that the more serious escorts go to the trouble of choosing a "real" identity. It's only a generality, of course, but that's the way it looks to me. So my message to serious escorts is: choose a real name and stick with it if you haven't already. It says something about you.

I agree with you. Having an unpronounceable moniker drives me nuts. It reminds me of Mr. Mxyzptlk in Superman comics. I have mix of regulars I've seen for up to 15 years, so I have to remember their professional names, real names, nicknames. Some guys never want me to use real name, but one just was upset that he wanted me to call him by his real name. Jake Mitchell named me Otter 15 years ago, and I think he's forgotten my real first name. Conversely, even after a number of years, when he lived in an apartment, I needed to be announced, and I hadn't ever been told his real name. One other thing that tickles me: who you see someone new, and they always address you as "Mister"...meaning he forgot.

Oh, well. As Juliet said

What's in a name? That which we call a rose

By any other word would smell as sweet;

I only partially agree. Most clients wouldn’t care if my username was Ronald McDonald or ToddXXL.

And while I understand your perspective, you also have the eager client (the majority) who scans for keywords like “XXL” or “Hung” in usernames to save time. Most clients are not looking for a respectable pseudonym when looking to hire, they’re looking for sex. I don’t think a more realistic name equates to level of seriousness. You have two niche markets here.

While I choose not to market myself that way because I think it’s tastless, there is also something “clever” in marketing yourself that way. Sex sells. It’s click bait. FuckStickXXL would probably get way more clicks than me. More bookings, we’ll never know...but I don’t really think usernames generally matter (to clients), as so man other factors must go into choosing a potential hire.

From the escort’s perspective, I know what type of client the more raunchy screenames attract, and I’m not receptive to sexually explicit greetings. Some escorts are and it works great for them. But that’s not my jam.

Changing a username frequently, now that’s a different story.

Several years ago, I had 3-4 encounters with an escort in a large mid-west city. His “name” was “Todd Firmer” which I thought was okay, but a little corny. Anyhow, after the second hookup, I researched his phone number, thinking of course it would be a burner. Not so. Found out his real name with a few clicks and a FB page. Duh, rookie. But he was a sweet guy, so the next time we met, he welcomed me with a delicious kiss, to which I replied, “Oh, Paul, you are so hot ...” no response ... so we continued on with our session and I purposely called him Paul a few more times, again no reaction. Finally I spilled the beans - he was shocked how I found out. We had a little training class on anonymity, burner phones, other free email accounts, etc. So after a new phone, new email, and some other advice, voila, a “new” person emerged. Lovely man; had a wonderful time - alas, Mr. Wonderful came along, and that was that. Ah, youth...

Thanks for your very interesting reply to this thread. You probably know better than I. While your point about marketing is a good one, however, I think it reinforces my perception that the honest escort -- the one who intends to provide the service as best he can -- is more likely to use a real name. Whereas as the dishonest escort -- the one who plans to do as little as possible to get paid, is not interested in creating a repeat client base and is merely marketing as a sort of fraud --- is likely to choose the vague moniker "XXL" "Hung", whatever.

It's probably a subliminal choice. The escort who uses a name that could be real sees himself as creating an alter ego that will have an actual human interaction. He aims to have a base of regular, repeat customers for a longer term service business. The faker has no such interest in his clients. He doesn't need to go to the trouble to create the alter ego, but only needs to grab the attention of his "victim" with a fake photo and flashy moniker so he can get a quick payment and never see the guy again.

Of course, neither kind of name -- real or moniker -- guarantees any kind of experience, and there are plenty of exceptions. My point was more one of a general observation, and I want to point out that I never used the word "respectable." There are, I believe, respectable escorts as well as users, no matter what name they take. But it does seem there is some correspondence between the type of name an escort chooses and the kind of escort he is..

I don’t know. I feel like a highly acclaimed porn actor (with a realistic name) would be more likely to do the bare minimum per his accolades and following in the industry before someone with a silly moniker. I hear far more horror stories about porn actors than anyone else.

My experience has been the opposite. The pornstars have been the best experiences. Of course, I generally check out their reputations on this forum and reviews first. But of course they are more likely to have reviews than the ones with silly monikers. In fact that latter often have no reviews and no comments on here.

Interesting theory. Never really thought a lot about it. I don't necessarily disagree but my personal experience does not support your theory as my top 3 guys do not have real sounding names. (Wickedboy, Dominiking, and Mister_mister) in case anyone is interested.
