I have attache a link to an article I found on the Drudge Report. It tells of how the police in Seattle have used Craig's list for a sting operation.

The Vice Squad commander had this to say about the women advertising on Craig’s List:

 

"No young girl grows up dreaming of doing this. These prostitutes are women who have had a rough life, whether they're addicted to drugs, or they've been abused or they have some pimp forcing them into it.

 

"It is easy money ... but these women are being exploited and it's degrading," he said. "You should hear what some of these guys have asked our (women) detectives to do — it's disgusting."

 

 

What do you guys think? Is there any truth to what he says?

 

What about the men advertising erotic services on Craig’s list? If you believe the women are being exploited, do you think the men are too? Or is it different for men than it is for women?

I honestly think that even though its a minorty, that there are guys escorting in order to have enough money to purchase their recrational substances.:-)

Then of course I have met escorts, who are students who need extra money. All the students I have been with stop escorting once they graduate university, but then again there would be exceptions.

In some cases, I'm sure there's truth in what he says. But like everything else about this business, there's no one-size-fits-all.

 

I've hired from craigslist and I've been very fortunate to meet some inordinately normal guys, and many of them are still friends.

 

In front of a camera, any savvy spokesman for law enforcement will emphasize the "drug-addled, pimp-driven" prostitute. It makes good copy in the morning news and gives John Q. Public a sense that they're doing something. It also covers for the fact that unsolved murders are still unsolved while tax money is being spent chasing hookers that have resources enough to be online. They're not exactly paupers, in other words.

 

Sure there are bad apples, trouble cases, etc. -- it's one of the reasons this site exists! But it's far from a universal condition (another reason this site exists).

One reason why they are doing this is because during the election it was voted on to repeal the ban on the 4 foot rule for strippers. Legally they the officers can not touch the girls so they have to make it look like they are doing something to protect the innocent girls from those dirty dirty men, so they go after the prostitutes. Anything that "protects" woman looks good for the officers. Now will they come after the guys? I wouldn't think so but I wouldn't really trust the Mayor or some of the officers as much as I would spit against the wind.
