My father was a cat person. He had an outdoor cat. A feral cat gave birth under the house. He called animal control but kept and raised one kitten. She sometimes would bring him a gopher that she had caught.

When I was a boy we had a neighbor who had dozens of cats in her home. They were everywhere. We took two of them,. A male Manx we named Max and a female calico we named Muggins.
