I remember seeing this occasionally when I attended Syracuse University...

 

although I remember them branding their pledges, not their member. OUCH!

There was a Titan film a while back which had branding in it - obviously fake, but the idea was pretty erotic in context. Think it was called "Horse" or something like that.
