In the midst of all the rain this Labor Day weekend in NJ I undertook the project of cleaning out the guest room. It had become quite cluttered from non use including the huge closet. I filled quite a few trash bags with stuff I no longer needed or have no idea why I had in the first place. Seemed like every time I turned around I found another screwdriver. Screwdrivers to the left of me, screwdrivers to the right of me - all types and sizes. Adding to the guest room find a twelve pack I recently purchased from Sears gave me quite an impressive pile of screwdrivers. Which made me remember what my father told me years ago. Not his dying words but I clearly remember him telling me once "You can never have too many screwdrivers". Does anyone know for sure if this is actually the truth or will I hold on to them in vain?

Are you sure your dad didn't work for Home Depot?

The only screw driver I have and need is the kind that has all the different slots stored in the handle and you simply screw in the one you need for the job at hand. Life has too many complications to burden yourself with even more. Simplify - that's my motto!

True, but I did not find the only one I knew I had the 4way combo. Found lots of wrapping paper though. Now I know you can never have too much of that. That and lube.

It depends. :p

If you're a homeowner and into doing your own repairs, you can never have enough tools! (Ask any lesbian!)

As a renter, I have several screwdrivers. There's the large & small flat blade, large & small phillips, a few torque & allen heads, etc. -- and I generally end up using the battery operated gizmo with interchangeable tips that never quite fit exactly but get the job done anyway.

Your father sounds a lot like mine, BTW. When Mom sold the house, 10 years after his death, we held a separate garage sale just for tools. :o

All I know is the garbage man is going to be PISSED.

You'll be screwing in NJ in December.

Same here, I just counted mine. I have 8 screwdrivers, three hammers, and a pair of pliers.

This led to another inventory and I need to go out and buy some more lube. ;-)

ROFL

Now I'm depressed. I have more bottles of lube than screwdrivers, and a depressing number of them are unopened. :-(

I do know one guy. Outstanding drilling skills, knows how to tighten a nut, and his finish work is to die for. Sucks at plumbing though.

You can also suck at his, for a little extra. :9
