Well sleep there EVERY NIGHT! LOL.

I'm surprised we don't use these forums to ever exchange notices about great deals and what not. Nordstroms Home is having a KILLER deal on the Westin Heavenly bed.

There's nothing better than traveling for a while and then plopping home into your bed ... that happens to be a top tier hotel bed. SOOOOOOOOOOO comfortable. I rarely splurge on myself but where you sleep is a big deal, check it out!

You can also order them directly from Starwood, the parent company. There's ordering information in every room.

When I have a choice of hotels, Westin will always win just because of the "heavenly bed". They really are great. Not so great for sex, but fabulous for sleeping!

I hope putting them out in the retail channel doesn't degrade the quality.

Sheraton, which is also a Starwood brand, features the Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Bed. I wonder if it basically the same mattress as the Westin variety that is simply marketed under a different name. While I have not had personal experience with the Westin mattress, I can say that the Sheraton version is not only exceptionally comfortable for sleeping, but as someone who has been tied down to one, quite conducive for other activities as well.

Well yes dear but my point was that Nordstroms is selling said mattress right now four 25% off. My friend bought from the same source and the bed still felt the same ... quality in tact. Mine gets delivered in a little over a month ... incall anyone? ;)

With a bed that comfortable, I'd be concerned that you might get so comfortable during an in-call that you would fall asleep. :)

Of course...that IS one of my favorite activities...to blow guys who are "asleep". :9

ok-I have to admit that I have slept in many, many hotel beds over the past couple of years. And that I have become a bit of an expert on them.

Last year I had over 100 nights in hotel beds-and only 15% of those nights were for buisness.

This year will be over 120 nights.

I really love the Westin bed as well as the new Marriott/Renaissance bedding packages.

But not enough to fork out 2,000 bucks plus.

And the Sheraton sweet sleeper is not the same bed/bedding.

And now a treat for you fellas.Head over to fatwallet.com to learn how to save 25%+on these premium bedding packages.

25% off Nordstrom's prices would bring them down to around retail. :+

(Hope you know I'm kidding.)

I'm not in the market right now, but I'll seriously consider the Westin bed next time I am. They really are that good.

My current bed was chosen by going to several different mattress stores and trying them. And I took along a friend so we could see how it acted when you get frisky, too.

It has some life left in it. So does the friend. ;-)

WHy do most mattress companies start with and "S"?

Have you investigated who makes those W beds?

Or those Starwood, Marriott or Renaissance mattresses?

You will find that they are the usual companies that start with an "S" found in every department store or mattress store! I suspect the only association with starting with an S has to do with the first letter of the word SLEEP!

I have done extensive research on mattresses, since they do not last as long as the warrenty and many many people are sleeping on bad mattress, which results in many Dr visits, and too often unsuccesful surgery.

Yes, those hotel beds feel great, when they are NEW, but they are not exceptionaly constructed different from the routine average bed in the stores by the same companies at a much lower price. Plus the mattressses have to be replaced more often in a hotel, then people would do at home!

What is nice are the better FEELING linens in hotels. The pillowtops give another false sense of luxury, but deteriorate rapidly and collect body oils and mites and hair, which can not be easily cleaned. I would not pay the premium for a pillowtop mattress or even get one if it were FREE!

In the last 4-5 years mattress companies have increased the use of foams and latex in their mattresses, while reducing the length of the warrenty. Some feel the OLD cotton (and Wool) batting mattress are best. Cotton wool expands with use, while foams compacts with use. Cotton mattresses had warrenties of 20 years. Now a days, you get a flat 10 year coverage for the new materials.

Another warning. Many people buy TOO SOFT of a mattress with poor support from the weaker coils based on the 5 minute trial in the store. The top padding gives a false sense of luxury and does not hold up over a short time. If you read http://www.whatsthebestmattress.com forum, you will see how disappointed people are in their new mattresses of all kinds. THe softness does not support the low back, so all kinds of aches and pains develope all the way up to the cervical area.

If you wake up with back pain, you have a bad mattress!

I upgraded to a Chattam & Wells mattress six years ago , and have come to really appreciate the firm support after a month on Marriott and Renaissance beds from Rio to New York City to Chicago. It was easy to feel the added support of the low back at home, which you take for granted after awhile.

Often even what started out as a great bed deteriorates in 3-5 years and should be replaced. Once I realized about 30 years ago, that mattresses don't last forever, I make it a point to replace it while it is still under warrenty with credit. I know it is time to be replaced, when I start waking up with back pain.

Also do not sit or slouch in soft sofa chairs. that will only add to the problem.

Finally, the happiest sleepers have LATEX mattresses make of a single block or layers tuned to their desired firmness.

I'm just about to spend 3K ona Tempur-Pedic memory foam mattress.

Has anyone any experience with them?

Is the Westin bed more comfortable?

The 'Heavenly Bed' saved Westin from profit loss and overall seemed to start the 'thread-count wars' amongst mid-tier hotels. Luckily, competition is always a good thing as it's now trickling down into the extended-stays and lower cost options. Hell, even Motel 6 now has a pretty comfortable bed... I've heard. *wink*

I'm sleeping on a Dux (http://www.Dux.com) at home. I have a client who's been using them for years and once i spent a night on it for myself, i knew it was the right one for me. I was a Tempur-Pedic convert!

While i liked the viscoelastic foam of the Tempur, i didn't like that i woke up sore (cause i'm a side-sleeper) all the time. With the Dux, i actually wake up with more energy. Yea, it sounds weird, but it's really true. It even slices, dices and julienes.

Sweet Dreams,

Thanks for the tip on the DUX bed. I too am a side sleeper and currently have a Tempur-Pedic bed but often wake with a sore shoulder or hip. Anything that could help is well worth checking out. There are no stores located in the DC area, but I will check it out on one of my future trips.

I slept on a Tempur-Pedic at a friend's house, and it drove me nuts. Every time I moved, it kept "adjusting" for a few seconds after I did. I had to wait for it to settle down.

Maybe it's just a question of getting used to it. Or learning to use the bed's fancy moves to the advantage of you and a friend. :)

I have the Tempur-Pedic and have slept on the Westin. Not sure one is more comfortable than the other. The Westin is one of the more comfortable hotel beds I have slept in, but both beds can leave my shoulders (somtimes hips) sore as I sleep on my sides. I slept on the sleep-number bed on a recent trip and was impressed. When I get to a town with a Dux store, I intend to try that out (see post from Benjamin Nichols).

If you sleep on your back/stomach, I think you would like the Tempur-Pedic.

A local company advertises on the classical radio station and what

they say seems to make sense to me:

http://www.sleepworks.com/

In googling for it, I came across a review by a woman who raved

about it, and mentioned that you can get the matress for use

on your own box spring (which is something she said was not mentioned

on their web site).

I have no personal experience (yet!)

Make sure you are very sure about the DUX bed.I found them to be very uncomfortable-and noisy. One of the many layery of a dux is a series of changeable pads wich have metal coils in them.-even with the foamy layer and the padded top cover I could hear those coils every time I moved.

And DUX is VERY expensive.
